Will Torchlight 2 Unseat the Diablo Franchise?

In some ways, comparing Diablo 3 to Torchlight 2 is akin to pitting D3′s own predecessor against itself. After all, the minds behind Runic Games are the co-founders of Blizzard North. Not to mention that the Schaefer boys have implied that the original Torchlight was meant to be a spiritual successor to their tossed aside rendition of Diablo 3.

Probably not... People get far too invested in some developers and game IP's.

Torchlight 2 looks like it's going to be an excellent game - and it will be interesting to see how well it sells. Unfortunately they don't have the marketing budget of Blizzard, so Diablo's seat is unfortunately safe.
