That is very good actually. Meaning many games for the foreseeable future will also be on Wii-U hopefully translating to PS4/Xbox 8 games coming to the system as well.
That's why I'm picking up ACIII on console as it is the definitive version for the consoles and extra features.
The people below: What is your problem? It isn't that serious children and who said anything about PS3 or anything else. Some serious damage control.
JBsleek-"That's why I'm picking up ACIII on console as it is the definitive version for the consoles and extra features."
-ummm....the pc version of ac3 will destroy the console version, it will run at 60 frames, have zero jaggies, feature full, native 1080p, 1200p, 1440p, 1600p, eyefinity ultra hd, dx11, tesselation, ssao, txaa, like nearly every pc game.
the console version will cost $10 more and be sub-hd, with jaggies, pop-in, screen tear and run between 20-30 frames, like every console game.
@taquito Can you read his post again? He said CONSOLE, not PC. He isn't saying it will be better than the PC version. Maybe he doesn't like to play videogames on PC? Who knows, but keep in mind he is talking about console, so your comparison is useless for people like JBSleek and me.
"hopefully translating to PS4/Xbox 8 games" hahahahahahah...um..no. Wii U's tech is current gen, not next gen. Theres a reason why ACIII and other CURRENT gen games are being ported to it. Its Nintendo's welcome into current gen tech. When PS4 and 720 come out, there will be no Wii U ports from those systems. Again...there wasn't any from PS3 and 360 to Wii so.....
Amd the ones that where (COD4) where extremely bad. I just don't see that happening. Wii U is about as Next gen as much as Wii is current gen. BY NAME ONLY! Its not next gen tech.
Actually that seems kind of high but it depends on the architecture of each platform.
The XBox was released by Microsoft, which means that games on XBox use almost the same DirectX libraries that the PC versions of the same games use. That essentially means that there's a Hardware Abstraction Layer there that separates the actual games from the hardware. All the game developers need to focus on (at least at first) is the DirectX libaries and the HAL. THey work on the quirks of each platform later.
As for PS3 and/or Wii games, well, they might required a fair amount more work to convert, depending on their architecture, and the graphics/audio libraries they use...
Rumor has it that the WiiU will mimic the 360 architecture and have more power but the PS4 will have a beefed up cell processor, if this is true then game are going to be easier to port for PC,720 and WiiU but will take a little more work for the PS4.
1 million to port thats so cheap i want every single game worth its salt on the wiiu as the Directors Cut version of that game NOW.
Considering that some of these games mentioned are like 70 million to make on ps3/360 yet only 1 million to then port up to a more powerful console that then gets better resolution and frame rates/textures ect.
That CryEngine 3 games being made by a respected developer for wiiu will let people see a little more of what the wiiu can do when a ground up title is made.
Considering how much most of the big budget titles cost to make, yes this is a very good thing! It gives developers and publishers alike another avenue to make profit for a relatively low cost of entry. Which is why we might see Nintendo themselves partnering with more 3rd party developers on bringing games to WiiU as they are doing with Ninja Gaiden 3.
If I were to get the Wii U versions of games, I wouldn't just want a port. I would want an experience that incorporates the Wii U's multi functions. Previewers are already saying that Assassins Creed looks the best on the Wii U, but will the second screen be used for more than say, a map?
Well to be fair you can use the Vita as a second screen for the PS3 and a tablet/phone for the 360.
In the end if rumors are true and the 720 and PS4 wont release until 2014 then the WiiU will be the version to get becuase it will have enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay over the 360 and ps3.
Even though you probably can, it seems more difficult cause then you will have to put your controller down and get on your tablet or Vita while the screen is on your controller for the Wii u.
Well, it gives developers a cheap incentive to port current generation games to Wii U. Obviously how this applies to the next generation Sony and Microsoft consoles remains to be seen, but for at least the next couple of years, this will work very much in the Wii U's favor if true.
Here's why I think so. A game is often pretty expensive to develop. According to EA a big budget title needs to sell several million copies in order to make up . So if you can then port over a game to another potential audience for that cheap, then you're pretty much guaranteed a profit as along as it sells a few tens of thousands.
It's not the strongest theory, I admit. But it could be why it's beneficial to both developers and to the Wii U console.
i guess its very good for the people buying the system for third party games, i'm buying the wiiU to play exclusive appealing games like ZombiU, the upcoming Zelda and hopefully 2/3 new exclusive franchises.
Then why arent 3rd party devs making more games for it??? AAA titles with 20+ million dollar budgets that sold well should be a no brainer to port over for so cheap.. Wheres the other games like tomb raider & RE 6, metal gear rising???? show me those games are coming even if its later & ill take wii u seriously as a current gen machine
You might see some later but with a install base of 0, why bother porting it, you might have a install base of 5-10 million a yr after launch. But even then it isn't a guarantee that wii u owners will buy it.
Since third games alot of times, didn't sell well on the wii vs ps3/360 game sales.

It means that 3rd party studious are running out of excusing not to port games onto the Wii U.
The Wii U will have a digital downloading service (for software) from the day it's launched, so it makes this bit of news, even better.

Maps and menus?
Maybe so, but the Wii U does have its own traditional controller.

PS3to Vita is more promising, but still isn't dedicated, widely supported or as smooth
To think, many people thought that was an insult when it was first posted yesterday (in another article).
You got to look beyond the head-lines and get to the quote; cause sometimes they don't match.
