'PC is the fastest-growing platform' - EA boss

CVG- In a recent interview with CNBC discussing EA's fallen share prices, Riccitiello reasoned that sales tracking such as the US' NPD don't accurately represent all areas of the business. He used the PC market to elaborate.

All people looked at for a while was NPD reports and came to the idiotic conclusion that PC gaming was in decline. Which isn't the reality.

More and more people I know are gaming on the PC. It's growing and I love it.

they are the reason the "media" thinks consoles are actually a big part of the game revenue landscape

when in truth, the pc makes more money than ps3/360/psvita/psp all combined

add in the wii and ds and finally all 50 consoles start to equal what one platform does, horray,

thats why i always laugh at console guys on here screaming about the consoles are where the money is....

yeah.....well, if that were true, and it of course ISN'T, THERE WOULD BE NEW CONSOLES!!

The market of people who are still going to buy a ps3 or 360 is small, the things are cheap and everyone who wants one has one, but sony and ms are in no hurry to make new ones because they both lost their asses on them for the first 5 years, they are hoping to make some back.

I can't stress this enough. PC game revenue has been overtaking console revenue for the past few years. I'm not sure what it is with console fanboys who feel the need to shit on PCs. It's like they're overcompensating for something. I can't relate since I game on multiple platforms including PC.

@Taquito, when talking about overall revenue of course PC trumps consoles. But when people say that consoles is where the money is at they mean as far as games like Mass Effect, COD, GTA, etc. Not facebook games, not mmorpgs, not Pogo.com, etc. You can't seriously think that a game released on pc, 360 and ps3 will sell more on pc than the other 2 combined do you? Really? Even a pc classic like BF3 saw the most sales on consoles.

Diablo 3 sold 3.5 million in less than 24 hours, it sold 6.3 million in its first week

what console exclusive has done that, halo reach, the biggest, only did 3.2 million in 24 hours, and pc games have way longer legs, diablo 3 will go on to sell 15-25 million copies easily

lets not even talk ps3 exclusives

gran turismo 5 (at 7 million)is the only game worth even mentioning, guild wars outsold everything else

shoot, the sims has 16 million, starcraft 1 has over 11 million

Please don't dig yourself a bigger hole than you already have. In trying to sound like a pc fanboy, you're coming off really bad. As I said, most of us here are pc gamers in one sense or another. Whether it's playing on Pogo or Steam, we contribute to the pc market.

But when it comes to AAA type games it's no mystery why devs "dumb down" games to cater to the console market. It's because in that type of market consoles is where the sales are at. Of course there will be genres (Sims) that will not do better on consoles, but overall that's not the case.

Btw, 16 million and 11 million for Sims and Starcraft respectively are some stellar numbers. What do you think about for 40 million Super Mario Bros on NES, 20 million Super Mario World on SNES, 32 million Mario Kart on Wii, 26 million New Super Mario on Wii, 17 million GTA: SA on PS2, 15 million Gran Turismo 3 on PS2 and multiple 10+ million games on current consoles.

EDIT: FYI, I'm currently typing this on my gaming pc, so you realize it's not a matter of pc vs console, rather reality vs delusion.

I'm going to agree with Dark on this one. PC's sell better just like tablets and smartphones sell better than handhelds.

PC's have more uses other then games and are very necesary for everyday life, unlike consoles.

PC has been number 1 by far since internet became mainstream. Consoles still have a huge place though, its just that they reached a peak and are declining.

people finally realize that the consoles are outdated and that pc gaming (steam) is where you find value and save money, pay less for superior versions etc etc, experience the amazing l4d mods etc, Since I built my rig a little more than a year ago I have only tunred on my ps3 a few times and that's either for a BD movie or when a friend is over and wants to play something splitscreen with me.

Mainly because the consoles can't keep up with the industry. EA has already said that making F2P games is as profitable as console games. Yet neither Microsoft or Sony make a big effort in supporting this huge market on PC.
