We all love love stories, right?
Gaming isn’t really known for quality story-telling, let alone for having decent romantic subplots (or as a main plot). Thus I thought it would be nice to have a look back over the games that were released in this generation of gaming and commend those that did a fairly good job of stringing together a believable love story.
Why just this current-gen? Mainly to provide previews of what gaming is like nowadays in terms of story, to hopefully see what the future can bring. Another reason being that there are quite a number of decent choices throughout gaming history, so narrowing the time frame down allows us to appreciate games that might be overlooked otherwise. In keeping with that reasoning, only one romance subplot will be taken from any game: the best from that particular game.
I would of easily put them at Number 1, they are the best couple I've seen in video games this gen. The fact Nolan and Emily actually have chemistry while acting makes the couple seem more real. The Uncharted 2 ending with the back and forth between the two was so touching...yet funny at the same time.
I like how Elena goes against most video game love interests or female characters. She dosen't need resucing all the time, she can hold her own, she's smart, shes down to earth, she's not sexed up and she's not a soldier brute
"The Uncharted series hasn’t really had great story-telling."
And that quote right there makes me wonder what game he has been playing. I know everyone has their own opinions, however the plot and story experience are one of my favorite aspects of those games.
perhaps if we knew maria more, but it just seemed thrown in
Where in the history of video games have we seen a similar seen before?
i totally saw her being dead because she would have no place in the story otherwise. unless it would have been lame and she went to some base to wait for dom. pretty obvious outcome in my opinion.
and i wouldnt have minded it but i dont think they did the scene correctly and failed to make a massive impact. just my humble opinion :P
then at the end of the game, "To be Continued in FF7.... for Playstation 4"
or something like that.
