Remembering E.T. – The Game That Nearly Destroyed The Video Game Industry

'Much like any other industry, video gaming has seen its fair share of commercial failures. There’s no shortage of games that fail to turn a profit, and there are even a few that do so badly that their developer goes bust. There’s only one game that underperformed so badly that it nearly led to the end of the entire video game industry, however: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.' writes Dominic Preston (Atari, Dev, Industry, Retro)

What a terrible game, and frustrating

and people think...
the 360 being rushed to market was a bad thing.

This is the epitome of that sentiment.

I do still have one in my collection. Just couldnt bare to toss it in the landfill with the rest of them.

I vaguely remember this game.

I actually enjoyed this game to be honest. In it's day, games were pretty shit anyway. I couldn't beat it though but that's because you weren't supposed to.

I only found out how to beat it a year ago on youtube. I looked it up cuz I was curious. I could never beat it as a kid lol

I was about 6 years old when this game came out, I never played it, which is probably a good thing. It makes for a great story though, a truly epic fail.
