Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD Review | Trendy Gamers

Once upon a time, the Tony Hawk name was synonymous with quality games. The Pro Skater franchise was respected, being the first extreme sports title to cross over from the niche that such games had previously inherited and into the mainstream. Through multiple sequels the brand was initially refined, but eventually diluted, until all that was left was a pale reminder of former glories. Increasingly, the franchise relied on gimmicks and expensive peripherals, as it edged further away from what made it all so great in the first place. Instead of laying the series to rest, however, Activision has decided to try to rekindle the spirit with a downloadable release that encapsulates the high points of the first two games, slaps on a new lick of HD paint, and charges you a reasonably small entry price. How successful has the experiment been?

Don't bother, it's a poor remake

That bad huh? Not even worth $1.99 bad? I would have sworn that there was a new Tony Hawk Pro Skater game in development, I might be confusing that with this "HD remaster" however. Loved the 1st two THPS games back in the day, they were tons of fun with killer soundtracks! "If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man, You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me, The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say, I don't share your greed, the only card I need is The Ace Of Spades!"
I remember buying my little brother the 1st Skate game after it released, he was big into skateboarding at the time. I didn't have a lot of experience with the game but what I played was fairly realistic, with great visuals and physics for the time. Skate 3 released back in 2010 so we're way overdue for a worthy skateboarding game, a Skate 4 could be really good with today's gaming tech. advances and hardware capabilities. It will never happen but could you imagine a skateboarding game utilizing a physics engine like Euphoria that's used exclusively in Rockstar games, it would be incredible.

Saying you like the first two THPS and quote a song from THPS 3 lol. Anyways, I really want a true remake of THPS 4 or THUG 1.

@madforaday I thought Ace of Spades was in THPS 1 or 2, didn't know it was in 3. I liked 3 as well. All 3 games had excellent soundtracks. It's been so many years since I've played them though, it's easy to get them mixed up.

It's worse than the games before it in the series (ignoring Tony Hawk Shred) but it's still worth $2.

It's not a great sale and doesn't bode well for Battleborn being price cut already.
