Can You Die From Playing a Video Game

A person who is meek and does not drink or eat while playing a video game for 40+ hours could faint, but how could he actually die.

I've heard other instances of this occurring and it sort of makes me a little sick.

I really don't think it had anything to do with video game?

I think that people who play a lot of video games for many hours at a time die because of health issues. The man was 18, that's the only thing I don't understand. It is quite unusual for someone of that age to die.

im thinking not eating or drinking water enough times repetitively and online games having your stress levels too high for a along enough period of time could kill you. taking a toll on your body through stress and malnourished and then giving it one last hardcore 50+ hours gaming sesh would surly stop you dead.

i played socom2 for one whole summer, got about 8 hours sleep a night woke up and played from 9-11 in the morning till 3-4am the next morning. roughly 17 hours a day non stop for 3 months, i ate while i played, but got 3 meals a day and sleep.

I know one thing within the earth you cannot die from playing games on the PlayStation, the console itself is a life force that guides and protect us from stress that is in the real world. Maybe we can die from other gaming systems but not the great and mighty PlayStation 3 console

I just had to agree because that made me lol...

There's a possibility of dying *while* playing a video game, I doubt that you seriously could die due to the fact that you're playing a video game. However if you play non-stop, and forget to nourish your body (food, water, etc) I can see you dying because of neglect, and a bad mindset. Not necessarily because of the video game, just bad judgement, choice.

If you don't eat, sleep and drink, yes.

I have almost tipped over backwards in my chair while trying to fight something that was attacking me. So I guess if that happens you could smack your head on something.

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33392d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.
