...So did he like it or not....guess he really can't answer because he dosen't want to cause a sh*t storm

shodan742109d ago

My guess is that he didn't, but is far too diplomatic to say so. Wonder what he thinks about the Devil May Cry reboot too...

Welshy2109d ago

If you look at how much the direction has changed from.when he created it, I'd imagine he wouldn't be too keen it.

Don't get me wrong, I had a blast with Resi 5 and got the platinum with my mate, but the franchise is a far cry from what it used to be.

user54670072109d ago

He probably isn't

I don't why he isn't more open about it, I mean eh did create this series so it's ok to be upset.

I honestly don't see why he dosen't just create a survival horror franchise like RE and start all over again. It wouldn't really be copying since he created the franchise in the first place.

The guy has a lot of class he wouldn't just badmouth it, but we all know he thinks it sucks. Resident Evil 5 is going to go down as one of the best games ever made, LOL.

Sarcasm makes me hungry.

Considering he quit capcom fairly recently I'd say that is a no

i think 3 was the best. loved 4 but 3 was the last of the REAL zombie.

abzdine2109d ago

numbers are better than words !
you forgot Code: Veronica which is one of the best in the series.

In the same interview with CVG when asked:

Q: With Resident Evil 6 just announced, are you pleased that the series you created is continuing without you?

A: I'm not especially happy or sad about it. I think they're working very hard on it. The guys at Capcom are working hard.

lol, sounds like he's being as nice and nonconfrontational as possible, but I have a feeling he hates the direction.

floetry1012109d ago (Edited 2109d ago )

Indeed. Mikami went about it in the right way, but it's evident that the series itself has become bloated and bastardized in a way that reflects the current trend of horror titles trying to appeal to the masses.

He's always been an underrated figure in the industry and balanced genres in a clever manner. Even Shadows of the Damned, which also had Suda 51 on it, was poorly received by consumers. The game itself is so interesting though. I get the feeling that Mikami stuck too close to his vision of RE and it scared Capcom into thinking that it wouldn't sell.

LightofDarkness2109d ago

I think he may also be alluding to the oft criticized Capcom working conditions, i.e. their propensity to over-work their employees. But I could be reading too much into it :p

Legendary Shinji Mikami.

Still waiting on news for Zwei which if done right can make a killing seeing that survival horror is one again non existent on consoles.

Would it make a splash like Resident Evil did on the first Playstation? If it did it would be a serious case of deja vu and the name's meaning would have some fore-shadowing in it...
