Tritton Warhead 7.1 headphones priced at £230 / $300, out next month

Tritton Warhead 7.1 has been given a release date.

The Xbox 360 exclusive surround sound headphones will be available in Europe and North America from August 6 for £229.99 / $299.99.

Dubbed as the first truly wireless headphones, the microphone connects to the Xbox 360 without the need for any cables, a first for the system.

Two rechargeable battery packs allows one to be constantly charging in the base station, meaning a fresh pack is always available when players need it.

Proprietary 5.8GHz wireless technology is said to offer superior audio quality over the industry standard 2.4GHz, avoiding potential interference from other wireless devices.

I don't like the design, but it definitely seems they will have high quality audio, bit of a shame that it's only for the 360.

If you need a good headset for a low price, consider buying Turtle Beach DX12's. They're around $120-130, but work extremely well. Don't feel sad, most things Mad Catz make are horrible items. They usually break within a few months, and your out of a headset, and a ridiculous amount of money. It's the same thing with their controllers, horrible quality that break within months.

Just dropped £150 on a pair of Sennheiser PC360 (officially skint lol) and I thought that was insane nevermind £230.

Don't trust wireless headsets for fear of lag & interference.

they do great 5.1 headsets. not a fan of 7.1 virtual surround when i can get 5.1 disceet surround. 4 speakers in ear are better than 1.

but yeah, i prefer wired as well

"Gaming" headsets are a huge scam meant for ignorant people. StayStatic you made a pretty good choice by buying the PC360's.

It's much better to get a pair of high-quality headphones with a large soundstage (AKG 701, Sennheiser HD598) and an Astro Mixamp for gaming instead of getting a "gaming headset". They never use cheap parts, are made by companies that only specialize in hi-fi sound, aren't overpriced, and actually sound amazing outside of games.

Plus, sound degrades heavily through wireless headphones. That's a HUGE no-no for sound quality, especially when FPS games depend so heavily on directional sound. You wouldn't want the sound to smear together.

The PC360s are actually pretty good, since the drivers in them are the same ones used in the HD595s, another pair of headphones with a good soundstage. It's essentially the HD595 with a mic and control attached.

I have trittons and astros.

Frankly you end up paying a lot just to have an integrated mic, the quality of the sets themselves aren't bad by any means but 'mediocre'.

Same price Sennheisers = vastly superior audio quality.

I'm swapping my astro a40s for a studio quality mic and a nice pair of Sennheisers. Probably spend £100 on the mic £200 on the headphones. Sell the astros for about £150 though.

Might seem mad to some but I like nice quality audio same as some people like a £1000 TV.

Thanks for the input all :) , Sennheiser PC360'S arrived this morning and they blow my old PC160s out the water (7 years old , worn to hell and still work , mic missing though).

Just need to get saving for a beefy soundcard to get the most out of it , was in diar need of a new headset first though :)

I can't believe how much money I've spent on headsets. Now I look back and realize what a huge waste it was. They were nice to have but I can definitely do without them.

After spending upwards of 300 on headsets, I don't see me spending any more than $50 in the future.

For some reason, I consistently had problems with the mics on all my headsets. I would have amazing sound but couldn't ever talk to anyone. So I would get a different headset, and once again mic would stop working. So after about 7 or 8 headsets, I'm down to the basic headset that comes with the Xbox. Obviously no sound but at least I can chat.

I've had Astros, 2 or 3 Tritons, and 4 or 5 Turtle Beaches. Every single mic crapped out on me. Don't know why.

So I would actually spend more than $100 if I could be assured the mic would last more than a month. Give me a reliable headset and I would be willing to buy it. I've just had too many negative experiences to spend $300 on a headset if it won't fully function.
