Remembering Abe’s Oddysee, One of The Most Bizarre, Inventive, and Underrated Games of All Time

'His first outing, ABE’S ODDYSEE was released in 1997 on the Sony Playstation and was one of the first games I ever really played and it had me hooked from the very first cut scene.' Daniel Lindsay (Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, PS2, PS3, Retro)

I've been replaying the games on my psp. Hopefully this time I'll be able to finish them. 16 years ago, I def. did not have the wits to finish this game haha It was more trial and error than anything.

All of the Oddworld games are great. I wouldn't say this one was underrated though, I remember it being well received back in its day. Most critics and gamers that played it, loved it.

Abe's Oddysee and Exodus were the best. In what other game can you possess your own explosive farts?

Damn good article. Funny. And I actually started replaying this a few months ago after downloading it on the PSN. I fricking love this game and need it for my Vita now.

Still one of my top, top favorite series of all time. The amount of creativity and originality in it was unbelievable. The characters, especially Munch and Abe, of course, were so likeable. The one-eyed, one-legged sheep and the armless, tiny-footed business evil guys were hilarious.

And they had great stories as well. The first game to me seems like a criticism against labor factories. The second was obviously against slavery and colonization (Abe = Abraham Lincoln, Exodus = Moses' exodus). The third was about endangered species and business practices.

This game is an absolute legend, I don't value a game depending on how many people played it. Just ask "Do you remember Abe's Odyssey?" to a random gamer and if that person has actually played it before, you'll see a sudden, huge smile on his/her face. That's how great this game is and unfortunately for us gamers, not many games can trigger such a reaction.
