Is the Future of Gaming with Android?

BNR: With all the talk of Android based consoles, it seems that Android gaming might wind up being the future- or is it? (Android, Next-Gen, Ouya, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

I think this will fail
People are not going to jump ship to this console and mobile gamers who can play the same games on there phones won't either................but I could be wrong
Jourdy288  +   313d ago
Quite potentially. ATM, I wouldn't jump from my consoles to an Ouya- I have no real incentive.

Ouya will target a small group of people. I doubt it will be some colossal product like the Big 3 has to offer.

If the Ouya doesn't do with gaming it still can be a decent digital media receiver.

Well this is just the first semi-high powered Andriod platform.

NVIDIA is developing 64-bit CPUs to be on par or faster than x86 CPUs for 2013/2014. Wth does that mean for PC gaming I don't know, but it will require a new OS for ARM CPUs. Microsoft is prepping Windows 8 ARM. No word at all on ARM PC games. I think that is why Microsoft has talked about Xbox Live on Windows 8. They might try to use ARM to sweep developers into using their service over STEAM.

It's a part of it.

Not for the next 5-10 years... and by that time, it might only be like 10% of it.

Android seems to be the standerd for cell phones and most people that would feel at home with it on a console. Ofcourse apple has been wanting to get in the console wars too. So would they use the apple computer/Ipad OS on it?

Why do people write such dumb articles?
They did this with Apple and although Apple help push digital throw away, time killer games they are not compelling but have their own market but no it's not the future.

could you imagine making Gears of war, Uncharted, Mario and then being told you have to make a game like Angry bird etc? I would get a chicken, slap it and make it peck my boss on his worm lol.

The point being that Gaming as we know it will always be here regardless on what console etc but casual gaming with little substance is not the way forward.

Paying for $1 games has a cash sometimes because that game makes it so hard to get the better items that you would have to play the same levels more than twice, if not then you have to use some of your real money just to get some virtual gold and the game really end up costing like $10 or more.

But Ouya aside, I think if one of the 3 major console manufacturers incorporated a custom build of Android into their next system, it wouldn't be so far fetched to see it as a major player. Sony pretty much uses Android for their phones, tablets and I'm sure would consider it well before Microsoft.(which would no doubt be using windows 8 in any case) Nintendo as well was rumored to have had secret meetings last year with Google. So that could have been about a number of things, a custom Android OS, cloud storage accounts, or incorporating Google products into the firmware with ready available apps and whatnot.

I think some will sale but the staying power will be lower because the big 3 as we say are going to add apps to their consoles so no need to purchase a console that does only that.Games on Xbox 360 and PS,NT are and will be for greater in content. Do to the low price of $99 will make some people have to check it out, it's only $99 sure why not.But serious gamers will stick with PS,XBOX360 and NT for their gaming fix for now maybe the cube might be more later down the road if they stick with it.But they have some big shoes to fill to be placed among the giants, time will tell.

Why android? I think Apple would be a bigger player because of more developer support.

Either way this statement is bullshit. Whether its android or iOS the future of the games we like to play don't rest on them.

Phone games suck. So short anwser is no, never. Why do people keep making dumbass andriod game articles like they can even compare to anything going on with pc and consoles.
