No PvP in Borderlands 2

GamerZines writes:

Gearbox’s VP of Marketing Steve Gibson has revealed not only that Borderland 2's campaign clocks in at around 58 hours, but also that the studio has decided to drop all PvP functionality from the sequel.

The first game's Arena mode simply wasn't popular enough the developer told GamerZines. (Borderlands 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

It was a nice little feature, but the rest of the game will make up for it I'm sure.
In all fairness, I must have used the PvP thing five times maximum on Border lands 1
zchay  +   310d ago
no one used it because it wasn't well made. I think it still would have been fun to do that, but with better ideas
Excalibur  +   310d ago
I used it exactly enough to get the achievement and never touched it again so no loss for me what-so-ever.
WeskerChildReborned  +   310d ago
Exactly, i never really cared for PvP in Borderlands.
Smkt  +   310d ago
will probably show up later as a dlc pack.
zchay  +   310d ago
same thought pictured in my mind

It's not really that kind of game anyways. They've added so many features, nobody will care about the missing PvP.
Frances-the-Mute  +   310d ago
Yea it was a forgettable feature. I just hope they regulate or restrict modded weapons.
Parasyte  +   310d ago
Holy crap! A 58-hour campaign? Do want!
NeoTribe  +   310d ago
Screw the arena battles. It better still have the duel function where u slash eachother with a knife to start a duel.
rdgneoz3  +   310d ago
I think it does still have that functionality. I remember some Borderlands 2 vids from around E3 that had included people dueling while questing. Seeing as it was already up and running, I don't think that would have removed it.

Yea I saw some coop game play of 2 and I swear I saw the VS option come up after some friendly fire. So at least you'll still be able to beat your friends up. I just hated how the winner was almost completely determined by rank. I hope they do some adjusting so you get more of an even playing field this time around.

I thought PvsP mode was very broken in the first game. It's just something that doesn't work for this sort of gameplay.
FCOLitsjustagame  +   310d ago
I was watching a video on the game and they had the duel feature so that should be good enough for Player vs Player.
TrueGaming  +   310d ago
IMO I say good, too many people ruin pvp games anymore & a game like this is truly best as aco-op game... & besides the games enemies look to have an overhaul in terms of strategies & AI so it should be nothing short of all out fun playing on the highest difficulty whether by myself or with a few friends online... YEEEAAAWAAAHHH!!!
MySwordIsHeavenly  +   310d ago
Good to know. I'm glad they're focusing on making it a fun game and not keeping useless features nobody wants. Lol. Thanks, Gearbox!

This is shaping up to be an awesome game
AgreeFairy  +   310d ago
Yeah, I hope more games remove more features! Less features means a better game! I hope they a good chunk of gameplay out of future games so it can be even more awesome!

I'm OK with this.
kma2k  +   310d ago
I finished the campaign & never touched the dlc's. Been thinking since 2 is comming out maybe ill buy the goty edition on the cheap just for the dlc's.
Captain Tuttle  +   309d ago
The DLC's are excellent (Moxie's aside). You should definitely pick them up if you liked the vanilla game.
Roccetarius  +   310d ago
PvP won't be missed in Borderlands 2. The game was all about co-op and loot.
leemo19  +   310d ago
Fine by me only cared for it in Bl1 for the trophy.
likedamaster  +   310d ago
This is a good thing.
WillGuitarGuy  +   310d ago
I probably played 2 PVP matches in Borderlands so I don't mind not having it in Borderlands 2.
AKS  +   310d ago
It wasn't terribly balanced in the first Borderlands. A powered up Lilith with a good elemental SMG was almost unbeatable.

On the other hand, just to play devil's advocate, how much of their resources could it have taken to allow simple PvP matches?

But it's not a loss I'm worried about.

This article reads that "Borderlands 2 will be available September 21st". When it will actually be released September 18th worldwide.
zchay  +   304d ago
september 18th USA, 21st worldwide. Look it up before you troll
Whore_Mouth  +   303d ago
Honest mistake. If I were trolling though, I would have mentioned his misspelling of "combatants". In the article, it was spelled "combatents"
