Thunderbolt: Doom 3 BFG Edition hands-on

Thunderbolt: In 2004, id software released Doom 3, asking players to wander around absurdly dark corridors fighting off the forces of Hell. In 2012 console gamers can finally experience the definitive version, without downgrades and graphical readjustments. And while the eight year gap seems like an odd time to bring this game back out of the shadows, it makes perfect sense after Rage staggered out onto the market. This release, available on both consoles and PC, will allow id software to showcase its premiere series of games.

Wait, is there a reason to buy this on PC aside from the new levels? I heard alot of 'PC version of doom being brought to consoles'.

So are the textures/characters all that much better than the original?

They said it looks about like it did on the highest PC settings...which is still pretty good. They still may be touching them up, but I think the real draw is going to be the value of it all. You get Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, a new expansion mission, and both Doom 1 and 2.

And hopefully the version of Doom 3 included is a port of the original Xbox version so we get some co-op as well.

special place in my heart for doom. my xbox broke before i could get into the dumbed down version of doom3, so this is very cool for me

Every time i look to this game graphics i keep thinking that this engine still looks glorious and could still do wonders for games!
