Pyromania: The Right Way to do DLC

The latest update for Team Fortress 2 prompted me to write a rant about how pointless most downloadable content is.

"Of course those are a couple of extreme examples of DLC being a blatant attempt at stealing from the innocent and/or stupid. But the point is it doesn’t stop there. Space Marine power swords, Just Cause monster trucks, Fable III dog outfits, the list goes on."

Good read

I wouldn't consider anything that Valve have brought out after release, "DLC".

"DLC" gets thrown around quite often, out of context. There's a fine line between DLC and updates.

I agree, and that is really the underlying point of the article. It's interesting that the updates Valve put out offer more content than most of the DLC that is currently on the market.

I find the phrase 'DLC' very misleading. If it were up to me I think I'd probably just scrap the entire thing, but then developers need to make money and I suppose this is the best way of doing that instead of doling out updates for free.
