According to IGN nintendo will begin supplying Japanese retailers with Wii demo kiosks on January 26, and the first demo for said units will be Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
When they asked for opinions on what and who to add to this game they didn't ask anyone but the Japanese either. Nintendo seems to have an attitude (especially regarding Brawl) of: "You non-Japanese folks are just along for the ride. Deal with what we give you or go to hell. We'll make plenty without you." :(
Just like the new comic-style BF is only available in Europe and the US? The developers of Super Smash Brothers are located in Japan. Why would they open a US office (and a French, German, Ozzie offices etc.) just to quiz people on what characters they want in the game? Companies in the US don't care about the Japanese public when they offer public betas, why should the Japanese ones do the opposite? It's about saving money. Second, the kiosks have nothing to do Nintendo "ignoring" non-Japanese. This is about Nintendo US being lazy. If you want to complain, complain to them.
Persus u are right, American game companies are doing exactly the same thing, so I don't see the problem here.
I hear you, but don't you think that this is one of the reasons why the Xbox 360 struggles to sell 25k units a month in Japan? Just because "both sides" do things this way doesn't mean that it's right. As a gamer I just want to be treated fairly. Nintendo sells as much product in the U.S. as they do in Japan. Perhaps even more. They should act like it before people start feeling alienated. Anyway, all of that aside, I find it Extremely hard to believe that NOA was offered demos of Brawl for distribution and said, "Nah".
"but don't you think that this is one of the reasons why the Xbox 360 struggles to sell 25k units a month in Japan?" It could be, but I think it's just more that when the first Xbox came out it offered the types of games that US gamers had been playing up until then, and didn't have anything that Japanese gamers were used to. This continued into this generation, but is gradually going away. It's not that J-gamers don't like FPSs and sports games, it's that there hadn't been very many here yet, so there wasn't much of a market yet. Then you got the RROD thing, which turned lots of people off. Hard-core J-gamers love the XBox. But, I think the casuals don't like it very much, which is why it hasn't done very well here. "Just because "both sides" do things this way doesn't mean that it's right." I agree. "As a gamer I just want to be treated fairly. Nintendo sells as much product in the U.S. as they do in Japan. They should act like it before people start feeling alienated." It's about the same actually, and I don't think many people feel alienated that they couldn't help choose the characters in SSB. Maybe some fans of the game do, but really, what characters would you want that haven't been included? "Anyway, all of that aside, I find it Extremely hard to believe that NOA was offered demos of Brawl for distribution and said, "Nah"." Why? NoA controls its own advertising unit. NoJ just controls the overall strategy. There is no reason whatsoever for NoJ to tell NoA to not offer demo kiosks. It would be retarded to refuse to allow NoA to advertise. This decision was made by NoA, and there's no doubt in my mind about it.
Nintendo and even Sony to a lesser degree have had many titles like this, Japanese companies always put Japanese first. Nintendo is especially guilty of this. This is why I support MS even though they irritate the snot outta me, they put my gaming needs as first priority when ever possible, and they always will, why people choose to be so supportive of Nintendo I will never understand, they really dont give a f*ck about gamers or any non Japanese period.
Because the japanese think they're better than everybody else..trust me i know i'm witnessing it first hand. lol!
Uhh.. and americans don't think they are better than everyone else? Give me a break. Go to any other country and ask.
...learn to speak Japanese and then you can start talking about the country and its culture. It's no different than any other.
Yeah..I have been and in particular the japanese are worse than us. I take it as you're japanese?
...the day the Japanese start invading other countries under false pretenses, bullying the world community, and trying to decide who should lead which country all the time. Please. Japan does have a certain arrogance about it, but we here in America take the cake. Our elected leaders don't represent us, they just do whatever they want. Whie over 50% of the people are in such denial that they unfailingly believe that everything is o.k. and that America can do no wrong.
So what...they're only getting a demo kiosk 5 days before their release date. So would you people be happy if we got demo kiosks on March 4th? In reality, no one would care.
i hope they do.. if not who cares. just make sure the game is out in march
