Kinect ruined my Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor

Geek writes: In a perfect world, this would be an article about how the creators of SB:HA rose to the occasion, embraced the Kinect motion controller, and made the mech battle game even more intense and immersive. A game that used modern technology to bypass the need for a very expensive controller that you can only use with this one game in order to fully appreciate it.

Instead, I’m going to tell you about a horribly executed opening sequence that ended in my inability to complete the mandatory tutorial after over an hour of trying. (Kinect, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, Xbox 360)

Kinect ruined Xbox gaming in general.

I remember silly people saying that ps move is rubbish because it isn't forced as the only controller options in a lot of games. The beauty of the move is that its an option in a lot of games like resistance 3 killzone 3 and a lot of games where it works well but the regular dual shock can be used also. Steel battalion is a proper game with rubbish controls.

Why do people even game on other platforms unless they don't have any other choice.

Ps. PlayStation

people didn't go and buy the move to play games that they can already play with the regular controller. Its good to have options but what about those unique experiences they promised a few years back?

Steel Battalion could of been better if it had more options. This is capcoms fault for omitting that. You can only blame the hardware for so long. Say what you want but kinect does have some successful original titles and move is still struggling to find its way. Sony and third parties are totally ignoring it. Kinect is actually paying off for ms and the next version should be a huge improvement with the extra processing power. We may not see a move sequel because people just really arent into it anymore.

This game actually works really well, but it is a first. I am great at playing it i have no issue problem everything works fine but I do see places they could improve on the next. The tracking is fine but still very open you have to learn your own body movements and gamers really arent that coordinated or equipped for that right now and will regularly get frustrated especially since we live in a time where every game they play is almost a pick up and play experience.
Along with the tracking screen at the beginning they should have also made you reach into sections of the screen to calibrate your interaction with that section. Its actually set up like that already. Your 2 panels are at your shoulder height the on juicer and gears levers are at your knees, the portal is at your chest. It looks like a lot when written but it is very simple.

The next kinect will have a higher resolution just meaning you could sit back further than you do now and give you smaller hand gestures to use. And the next system will have the needed processing power factored in either in the box itself or the new kinect. The lack of the orcessor is the reason why kinect game usually take a hit in the graphics department.

Steel battalion is great. They either need to re calibrate or they are screwing up.

This is what it really looks like when you play the game.

From looking at this guys video the only thing it could be is he is keeping his hand registering to close to the panel handle. Once the panel is out you just move your hand into the buttons panel or even drop your hand down back in your lap so it isnt registered anymore then raise it up and interact with the panel. There are many ways to do it. He just hasnt grasped it yet. Its not even really hard.

This game works great in capable hands.
