7 Ways to utilise your dead Xbox 360

Darryl Linington from ITF Gaming writes: While the Xbox 360 is a great console through and through, many gamers unfortunately experienced the consoles biggest downfall the “Red Ring of Death”. Luckily, Microsoft offered consumers an extended warranty for the worldwide issue, and allowed consumers to replace their consoles with refurbished units; however, what does one do with the console if you are out of the warranty period? (Culture, Tag Invalid, Xbox 360)

There are still articles being written about hardware that is long past it's warranty period. Really. I am actually surprised anyone cares about that anymore. I guess I need to write an article regarding what I should do about the 2 PS2's, 1 Xbox 360, and 1 PS3 that have died on me. All died shortly after warranty, two of them had known flaws, and only one of the manufactures' cared enough about their customers to extend the warranty period and fix the broken boxes at their cost. If I still had them what would I do? Too bad I sold them all for parts a long time ago, I'm sure I could have made a console Transformer from them. :-)

Why wouldn't people just send them back in to get repaired? There is a 3 year warranty on all the older models, and if they have been refurbished in the past, those are under warranty from that date.

Also, we have local stores here that do the repair for $20 now, they also fix the yellow light thing on the PS3 for $20. Not sure why people wouldn't just repair them.

My Xbox pro from 07only had one year warranty I believe only elites had 3 year warranty

Every single Xbox 360, Pro, Arcade and Elite had a 3 year warranty on them.

My younger brother had a Arcade that got RROD and it was almost at the end of the warranty, but they still covered it.

The new Xbox 360s models only have a year warranty, but I haven't heard of any issues with them.
