Dante1121981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

Edit: Xbox360 only sold 60-69k more units if anyone is wondering.

Edit: Disagrees even with links? I guess the disagrees wanted me to keep this low key lol.

Here comes dante112 for some old-fashioned spinning, the n4g's way!

@gribblegrunger

If you or dante dont care about us sales figures then why even bothering to comment on this article?

Oh, maybe because you, dante and "many others" (e.g the rest of n4g crowd) are frustrated that ps3 didnt make it to the headline as the best selling console in US.

When ps3 becomes the first in (insert date) in (insert region), you and dante will be Congratulating Sony for that.

typical hypocrisy and two faced spinning.

GribbleGrunger1981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

I think Dante is only interested in the WWS. It's nice that the 360 sold well in America but as Dante pointed out, only by around the figure he gave. the other two main regions sold more PS3 than that figure which is why it's beaten the 360 every week this year in WWS.

I think, just like me and many others, Dante is getting a little frustrated with this jingoistic approach to sales figures.

iiiDystopia1981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

"Only" 60k more .... In june(not known for a lot of console sales)....half-way through the year 2012. I don't worry myself too much though. I know the year of the PS3 is coming soon.

nukeitall1981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

At 60-69k margin, the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 by over 30%. That is no small feat considering the rock bottom price of the PS3 with free online games and *supposed* exclusives while Xbox 360 hasn't had a price cut for years.

Like always MS delivers the sale around Christmas. Remember last year, when MS doubled the PS3 sales and sold almost a million more just in December alone in the US?

What about worldwide?

Xbox 360 outsold PS3 too!

I like how you point out price cuts, but overlook the addition of Wifi and a hard drive that has over ten times the storage capacity of the launch model 360. According to MS's pricing, that's well over $200 in value that they've added. The current model 360 is actually superior to the $500 Elite model.

You try to spin it to make the 360's performance at a consistent price sound more impressive than it is, but we all know that a 20GB system with no Wifi wouldn't be performing anywhere near as well at $300 as the current model 360 is. Sony has lowered the price to stay competitive, but MS has had to beef up the 360's value.

mewhy321980d ago

Well there's no denying that the 360 is doing well here in the U.S. But the others are too.

How the heck did you lose 2 bubbles within a few hours?

Dark3601981d ago

!!!Congratulations Microsoft!!!

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney1981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

lol the console noobs don't realize new console is coming. well maybe not anymore after this?
Forza, Gears & Halo for everyone!!
I hope they don't expect to play online without extra cash.

aviator1891981d ago

Well, I'm sure most people don't want to wait 1 year or more to buy a console. If they've got the money, they like the games for that console, they'll likely get it. Not everyone has that kind of patience.

bolbgt1981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

Agreed. Because people who buy a new Xbox 360 can't play old games or multiplatform games it can only be exclusives or you have nothing to play. Don't forget $5 a month is way too much to justify paying for a better online platform. Why should we have to pay for a service that cost millions of dollars to operate? They should be losing money, not us. That is why Micro$hit is greedy they don't want to lose money offering something expensive for free. You know Sony are good people when they lose $5B company wide and $1.2B from SCE division whereas greedy Micro$hit profits.

SlapHappyJesus1981d ago

Agreed.

Talk all the shit you want on Microsoft about their making you pay for online multiplayer, they aren't the ones in the negatives at the moment.

They know what they need to do to turn a profit. It's not like being a console manufacturer is the easiest business to make money in. If charging us for online is what keeps them in the clear, I don't consider that them being greedy. It is what they need to do to not be a failing business. It's as simple as that.

dcbronco1981d ago

Bolbgt really? You believe companies are in business to provide you with free stuff? How old are you? Sony wishes they weren't losing money. They are extremely happy to have PS making a profit again. Even if you believe that is wrong.

jessupj1981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

Last time I checked dedicated servers were far better then having the privilege of using your own bandwidth, ie. P2P.

You have 1 feature that PSN doesn't. I am sick and tired of you fanboys touting how much better XBL is, absolutely sick of it.

bolbgt1981d ago

Except most PS3 games don't use dedicated servers...(only one I can think of is battlefield 3) A dedicated server means that you basically have one server(computer) running each instance of a game(that's how it works in terms of web hosting and PC gaming at least). Most games use P2P... some 360 games use dedicated servers too but most don't for both platforms because it's way too expensive.

There are many factors to why people say Live is better than PSN it's not just the missing features like in-game private voice chat(cross-game-chat) and voice messaging. There's also the UI(in-game online operations more specifically) everything is faster and more quickly accessible, all games from the get go supported game invite/join integration. The social experience is also slightly enhanced by things like rating system, Windows Live messenger integration, appear offline, more detailed in-game info, user-name change, better website integration, better profiles. Online gaming is a social experience, Xbox 360 just offers a better social platform.

ALLWRONG1981d ago

jessupj 360 has more than just one feature the PS3 doesn't have. Not just cross game chat, but cross voice, video, and text chat. 360 also has custom soundtracks for every game from any device. All 360's with HDD's are BC. Biggest one of all is P2P, so when EA/Sony want to get greedy and shut down servers after a year, P2P can still play.

Microsoft merkstachin' the competition

Edit: Why yall disagreeing with me? Acting like MS hasn't been busting Sony and nintendos ass in sales the last two years. Not to mention it was first to the market.

Sgt_Slaughter1981d ago

First on the market, yet almost last in total sales.

Actually, none of us will actually know whether Sony or Microsoft is in 2nd until the final (OFFICIAL) sales come in for both platforms because there are so many different reports and numbers for both.

Either way, Congrats to Microsoft for getting 1/4 Million sold in June. Great feat considering it's 6 1/2 years old now.

jessupj1981d ago (Edited 1981d ago )

Well contrary to popular belief the world doesn't just stop when you hit a US shoreline, there are other countries out there. And ever since the PS3 has hit the market, almost every single year it has outsold the 360.

So I don't know where you're getting this "MS has been busting Sony and nintendos ass in sales".

dubt721980d ago

But almost every year doesn't include last year, nor will it this year. The lead will grow. Hooray Microsoft! Hooray beer!
