Pixelitis: Quantum Conundrum review

Pixelitis: It’s near impossible to talk about Quantum Conundrum without comparing it to Valve’s Portal. The two share so many similarities: both were designed in some part by Kim Swift, both feature physics-based puzzles, both feature a silent protagonist making their way through a series of dangerous test chambers, both feature an experimental reality-altering device and both games are wrapped up in dry humor.

Being compared to Portal, however, isn’t necessarily a bad thing—it’s one of the most critically acclaimed games, period. The real question isn’t whether or not the Quantum Conundrum shares similarities with Portal, but more-so whether or not Kim Swift and her team at Airtight Games made a game that both stands on its own two feet and brings something new to the table.
