Angry Birds Trilogy costs at least 10 times as much as the mobile equivalents

Angry Birds is famous for two things: It’s cheap, and it’s a downloadable title. So it’s bizarre that Angry Birds Trilogy, a collection of the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio, is neither of those things.

"Publisher Activision will release the game through retail for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo 3DS. The console versions will cost $39.99, while the 3DS one will go for $29.99, according to GameInformer. For comparison, iTunes sells each separate title in the trilogy for 99 cents."

Is this some sort of F***ing joke, who the hell is going to pay that much for them. Acti you greedy c***s

activision is a ridiculous company that constantly makes terrible business moves and pushes their devs to do the same.

They essentially got lucky with call of duty's run away success. They take the free pass they've had with that series and it's price hikes as an indication that it'll work with other popular franchises.

PS All the angry bird games are free on my phone so this doesn't cost ten times as much it costs infinitely more. And for a pack of ported games none the less.

ExPresident2199d ago (Edited 2199d ago )

Their 'terrible business moves' have made them a fortune because people keep buying CoD. The price they are charging for those is absurd but some idiot will pay that for them and Activision knows it.

Amazingmrbrock2199d ago (Edited 2199d ago )

Which is why I said they got lucky with it's run away success. Modern warfare one was a very good game. Which garnered them tons of sales and good will from gamers. They then proceeded to essentially clone it every year since it came out. Which is why all the cod games that come ofter mw 1 have gotten high review scores. They're essentially copies of a great game, that doesn't make them bad it just makes acti lazy.

And it's true there are tons of idiots willing to pay for the cloned games even after price hikes. There are various reasons ranging from player community to expecting new revolutionary games and possibly tradition. It's becoming ingrained into popular society, in some circles your not cool unless your playing cod. It all works to their benefit but that doesn't mean they aren't ruining it.

As evidence to that point even though each game has more pre releases than the one that came before it they are trending to having sales that drop off sooner than earlier editions. The bulk of the sales are happening pre release or first month, after that they drop off rapidly

Army_of_Darkness2199d ago

These ridiculous prices have turned me into a green angry Biiird!!

even though I have no intentions of buying it.

WeskerChildReborned2199d ago

Their barely even worth a dollar but $40? Ahaha Activision, you crazy.

Soldierone2199d ago

Who is going to pay for it? The same people throwing thousands of dollars at "Free-to-play" facebook

Honestly Acitivison would be stupid to release it any cheaper. Those smart enough to hold out, will, and it will price drop. For the rest of the nitwits, I'd be surpsied if this didn't sell...."mommy buy me that!!!"

frostyhat1232199d ago

They are FREE on android!! How can this be justified?

I sure hope nobody is stupid enough to pay $40 for Angry Birds. What makes it worth 10x more than the handheld versions?

Honestly I was expecting them to inflate the prices a little but I was thinking $10-15 max. $40???

ASTAROTH2199d ago

I wont buy it but some people are going to buy it... Lets see if the casual markets of these consoles make Angry Birds a top 10 release!!

Agreedyvision will be laughing at the consumer stupidity!!!

or play the trilogy now on ANY internet browser
all you need is a google account and ther you go oh and its FREE!!!

Technical World2199d ago

Okay NOT a trilogy, there are four games. Which is why I can't believe that for $40 dollars they aren't at least including all of the games. But yeah, who would pay that much for a free game?

simonrope2199d ago

You know what's funny? It'll sell in the millions regardless.

Fuck you, Activision.

Kran2199d ago

The only excuse I can think that Activision to tell it at that price would be the resources for retail release.

But then that would probably be about $5 per package.

But $40?! Bloody hell.

NoobJobz2199d ago (Edited 2199d ago )

I disagree. I really don't think it will sell that well. The reason Angry Birds has so many downloads on handheld is because it was only 99 cents. I don't see people wanting to pay $40 for it. I'm gonna say it won't sell well at all.

If by some chance it does sell millions, I hope the world does end in December.

Elwenil2199d ago

While I agree with the initial comment, I can't honestly say I blame Activision for this one. Sure, they are seriously taking advantage of gamers with their marketing polices but knowing how gamers are today, I can't say they aren't being smart about it.

So instead of 'eff Activision, I say 'eff stupid, herd-minded consumers. If gamers continue to pay ridiculous amounts for poor games, DLC, games with intrusive DRM and other things that are dragging the rest of us down, we will continue to get overpriced shovelware; DLC that should have been part of the original game; short, unimaginative storylines; and poor quality games for the cost in general.

Just my .02
