PlayStation Vita Fans Should Be Mad Over Angry Birds Trilogy Snub

Chris Buffa (Modojo): If you somehow missed playing the Angry Birds games and want to see what the fuss is about, the newly announced Angry Birds Trilogy seems like a great place to start. Coming soon to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and 3DS, the compilation includes three franchise titles: Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio. Why Rovio Entertainment chose to leave out Angry Birds Space is a mystery. Too soon? (3DS, Angry Birds Trilogy, PS Vita, PS3, Xbox 360)

It's inevitable that Angry Birds will come to the PS Vita eventually.. it's only a matter of time.

Yep, i can see it coming out on Vita and they might even make a 'Angry Birds Vita' game.
victorGma21  +   831d ago
PS Vita owners have much better games to play (but yes, Angry Birds will come to the system eventually).

Why pay $14.99~$29.99 for the retail version of this game when you can pay 0.99 for each game or even get it for free on android phones? I can't see the logic, so I will probably spend this money buying Assassin's Creed or a true gaming experience for my vita and get Angry Birds (which is a casual game) for free on my android phone.

Rayman origins is a great post angry birds platformer, it is quick paced and with natural difficulty scale( I mean it is easy to finish but hard to get 100%)
WeskerChildReborned  +   831d ago
I meant a possible exclusive Angry Birds game for the Vita if Sony would wan't to get that but i don't even play Angry Birds.
egidem  +   831d ago
Honestly if you ask me, Angry Birds is one of the most ridiculously overrated games out there.
rjdofu  +   831d ago
I LOL @ Angry Birds.
gaffyh  +   830d ago
Angry Birds is one of the worst games ever made, if you really think about it, it's such a stupid game. There are many many mobile games that are better, but have sold less due to less hype.
kneon  +   830d ago
@egidem & gaffyh

I agree, Angry Birds is a pretty lame game that is seemingly designed to make sure any skill in the game has little impact.

For most levels what you need to do it pretty obvious, but due to poor controls and random consequences it's largely a case of luck as to whether you get 3 stars.

I have completed the original game and the problem is that even if you overcome crappy controls and fire the exact same shot you don't get the exact same result. You can prove this by firing the exploding or expanding birds. You can fire them so that they roll to a stop before exploding and you will see the results can be drastically different even though the situation is identical.

So to complete the game you end up doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. That is a common definition of insanity :)
Blastoise  +   831d ago
You can already get it I think, its a PS Mini meant for PSP but works on Vita. Just doesn't utilise the Vita's unique controls.

I honestly don't give two shoots about Angry Bird, whether it be the life of the franchise or if it's going to release on the Vita, I simply don't give a shizzam.

I would play a free game like Treasures of Montezuma Blitz over Angry Birds on the Vita any day.
Fyflin  +   831d ago
It does seem like the obvious choice, at least ahead of the consoles. I couldn't imagine playing this without a touch screen.

Could have been the start of real budget titles hitting the Vita too.
dorron  +   831d ago
I can't understand all the buzz around angry birds. It's a simple game, funny the first 5 minutes, then it's a boring, repetitive and crappy game.
JBSleek  +   831d ago
I respect your opinion yet it is very fun and a time killer. I wouldn't call it crap but that's subjective but also yo are pretty harsh on a game millions love. It's like many people call CoD crap yet millions love it kinda justifies it not being crap.

Yet you saying it's a crappy game because its free doesn't make it crap either. Sure you don't have to like to but that doesn't make it crap.

I don't like AC series but is it crap I would think not.

Millions of people playing Angry Birds won't make it a good game...it's just a free game for a phone. Whatever is free will get millions of downloads.

I can think of a guy who was burnt in a fire for saying earth moves around the sun. He was right and millions wrong. Not always most people are right...
KwietStorm  +   831d ago
If that's your justification, millions of drug addicts are out in the streets. Guess we all should hop on the fun train.

Mad or happy??

Angry birds is a crapsicle of a game and the embodiment of all that is wrong with gaming!
JBSleek  +   831d ago
You got that right!!!

Angry bird has not of the fllowing:

-Online Passes
-Unfinished games
-Lackluster Online Servers
-Over Priced

The true embodiment what is wrong with gaming. But $.99 mobile app is killing gaming correct? Of course couldn't agree with you more!! /s

Angry birds is a casual phenomenon that's far more popular than it has any reason to be. A simple little game has spawned all sorts of merchandise, and kids will be going to school wearing Angry Birds gear in the fall.

Its success is reflective of how much power the casual market has gained in the gaming industry, and it's the worst possible thing that can happen to gaming: while developers and publishers are currently fattening themselves on casual funds, few of them are looking ahead to when the general populace turns their eye elsewhere, and that money stops coming in. Already, we see developers complaining about money they're not making, as if they're somehow entitled to that money; that can be largely attributed to the money they've seen rolling in from the casual market, and now they're looking for more ways to get money out of people.

And all the stuff you mentioned is allowed to continue not because gamers like you and me(well, gamers like me, anyway) allow it, but because we're outnumbered by the casual crowd that doesn't give a damn one way or another.

So yes, you can say that Angry Birds and the runaway success it's become is the embodiment of all that is wrong with gaming.
Snookies12  +   831d ago
@Hicken - Damn well said... Bubbles for you good sir.
BrutallyBlunt  +   830d ago
This distiction between casuals and 'gamers' is a crock of ****. Only those who live in a bubble allow themselves to not enjoy certain games. Angry Birds, Doodle Jump and so on are easy to get into titles but they are still games.

There are no rules to what a game is. Is Heavy Rain a game? Was Myst on the PC a game? How about Lumines?

So for me to read from people who tell me what a game is is laughable. The real problem is some people fear change, that's all there is to it and because of that fear we see ignorance towards it. They want a console like the Playstation 3 to strive and things to not change. Sony are no longer just competeting with Nintendo so now people like Hicken vent towards everyone outside of this bubble, mainly Microsoft. Go read up on how involved he is with the Vita. He's very upset it's not selling as well as he had hoped while disregarding devices like tablets. People have moved on. Maybe one of the reasons why Sony is in such dissaray financially is they too were slow to adapt. Thinking their prior history will keep carrying them.

Anything that has the interaction from a person can be classified as a game and people are entitled to enjoy whatever it is they want to. So if they choose to buy Angry Birds over some JRPG too bad.

We live in an era of choice yet why are so many people on forums such whiners? Sounds like a generation of self-entitlement. No wonder why we have so many teenagers now who are so lazy and never want to leave home. They think everyone owes them something while ignoring just how good they actually have it.

Look around people. We live in a generation where we have Steam, the XBOX 360, the Playstation 3, IOS devices, Vita, 3DS, other PC services (like Desura, Origin, GOG). Single player games, multiplayer games, games with both single player and multiplayer. The indie scene is alive and well on PSN, XBOX Live, Steam and so on. There are games that cost $60 all the way down to being free. There's also MMO games that players can play. Now compare that to 20 years ago. That'll be the day i allow some troll to have his negativity have any impact of my own enjoyment of gaming. There's actually too much content out there.

People like Hicken don't know how to put things into perspective because their whole agenda is to be negative to anything outside of what Sony promotes. They never like others to point out just how good we really have it, that takes away his power because he thinks being on N4G 24 hours a day gives him a powerful voice. What's really happening is those who matter aren't listening and he seems to get more and more frustrated as time goes on. So he amps up the amount of comments he makes thinking that drowning people out and flooding the forums is the answer.

yes the vita is in horrible trouble because you cant play angry birds on it. That's it people wrap it up and go home the vita is setting sail, no one wants it because you got no angry birds.

Really i could give a crap about stupid time waster games like this on my vita. Give me a some shooters and some action/adventure games mabey even some gran turismo and im good, you know "real" games.

Angry Birds hits PSP/PS3 as PlayStation mini game

when you already have angry birds, not much to worry about!

it is a PSP/ps3 mini

why would anyone even care about Angry Birds? People got far more better games to play on the PS Vita than that flash game. People dont spend that large amount of money on techonology just to play that crap.
TheGamingArt  +   831d ago
I'm a little pissed about it. The one common sense platform doesn't get it. WTF?
Kisama  +   831d ago
I don't think the 5 people with a Vita is a huge market.
TheGamingArt  +   831d ago
Wow, talk about an obvious dick troll.... with Reggie's avatar (lol). Also, it's a market of about 3 million give or take for a device that just released. No matter how you put it, it is the best handheld on the market and it's sad to see developers not support it.

Don't worry with PlayStation Mobile we will get plenty of angry bird clones.

But seriously the game gets old extremely quickly.

irishyort  +   831d ago
Fanboy or not the point he is making is valid!

Why arent developers supporting the Vita? Especially when an obvious game like Angry Birds fits the Vitas touch screen functions, doesn't get a look in.

This is an extremely relevant point. A point of where me as a Vita owner would say, if the sales don't increase, the developers will waste their money making games that wont sell that well.

I would never buy Angry Birds (especially forte stupid asking price they want) but developers would probably say that out of the 3million Vita owners, what percentage would buy the game? 7% perhaps (just a guess of course), if that is the case, that is a horrible amount of sales.

However for the other machines that 7% (keeping it relevant) would be far more profitable because of number of machines sold.

Vita needs sales or devs and publishers wont bother!
joeorc  +   831d ago
OK where o'l where have i seen that statement before
"Vita needs sales or devs and publishers wont bother! "

REPLACES the Word VITA WITH [ps3] year from year 2006 to 2007 needs sales or devs and publishers wont bother!

aaah every thing is good in the universe, the PS3 is no longer on the market and is not getting anymore software made for it....

OH' wait a min.

So because Angry Birds is not going to be on the VITA that means that people aren't supporting it? What about all the other developers that are supporting it? What, don't they matter or something? Chris is a bias Nintendo lover and his points are NOT valid in any way as long as he is one. I wouldn't be asking the Neo Nazi if all the Jews should die even if he had valid points why they should

guitar_nerd_23  +   831d ago
I thought the whole point of the Vita is to give you a better gaming experience than what's possible on a smartphone.

Vita doesn't need Angry Birds it's got far better small games already like Super Stardust Delta!
InTheLab  +   831d ago
Makes sense on Vita but honestly, I'd rather see Infinity Blade Dungeons. At least I get some nice gear out of the repetition, instead of just getting screwed out of 3 stars...

Also, who is actually considering paying more than $1 for this game on consoles or 3DS? Be mad about paying $3-$5 for the same s*** Android owner get for free...

Playstation owners should be mad Borderlands 2 won't be on Vita....not this crap.
