Why is the OUYA Kickstarter Campaign So Successful?

"
In the past 48 hours, two of the most hotly debated issues in gaming have been temporarily put to rest. One, the Kickstarter phenomenon still has plenty of wind left in its sails, and two, console gaming is not dead, at least not yet. Single-handedly settling both of these debates is the team behind OUYA. An upcoming console conceived by industry veteran Julie Uhrman and designed by Yves Behar, OUYA stands to become the most successful Kickstarter campaign of all time. But why?"

Idk, it needed 1 mill and it already has about 3 mill.

How is this gonna be any different from ONLIVE's console that's not even allowed in Gamestop's parking lot?

Edit in:
@WeskerChildReborned.......On live has a console, and they don't sell software. Notice how you've never seen it in ANY US retail brick store anywhere....Same fate will become of OUYA if it has no software. It will be locked out of retail.

and

JBSleek.....
Amazon can help....but brick retail is where the bulk of consoles get sold. Selling a few thousand on the interwebs only takes you so far.

Just sayin.

ONLIVE is a cloud gaming service. Ouya is free games.

Yeah because in this day and age it's not like we have online stores where people buy things from. If only there was a place where we could buy our items from with free shipping from. Hmmm oh that's right Amazon.

This is 2012 many products are sold exclusively online and do very well for themselves.

because everyone is tired of waiting for ps4

Persistantthug1863d ago

Tired of getting AAA TOP OF LINE games like THE LAST OF US?

Tired of getting TECHNICAL MARVELS like BEYOND 2 Souls.

Tired of getting Games like WATCHDOGS?

What's there to be tired of?

Seriously, but if you are tired of getting stuff like that, you might consider taking a break from video games for a little while. I myself took such a break from 2007 until Jan 2009. It was a much needed break, and you may consider doing the same.

No PS4 needed bro.
Just sayin.

It is already 4M. By the looks of it, they can gather 15-20M when they reach August. Even though It looks like quite interesting, I prefer to wait for PS4/PSOrbis. :D

as usual, the n4g crowd is out of touch with the real world.

It is successful because people think it is going to be amazing.

But it won't live up to expectations.

Like the guy above, 'it has free games'. No. It will have free to play games which will contain adverts or be diluted heavily.

Just check out the free games in the Android marketplace.

It'll be the games you see on your mobile now, on your TV.

I can count on one hand how many games there are on the Android market that I'd consider playing on the TV.

Not that great, really.

For $99 however, it is a very good price even if you didn't play the games and used it as a 'mini Android PC' hooked into your TV.
