Borderlands 2 isn't competing with games like Halo 4 and COD. The game has it's own niche and will definately be more successful than the original as many now know how great the first one was.

Halo and COD have exactly the same fans on the 360 and what you will see is two big games doing great numbers at retail this holiday. Meaning most will buy both..but this the first time that Halo get's a piece of the holiday numbers..

i think you missed an important point. a lot of people dont have the cash to spend money on all the games they want, so they look at the games coming out and make a decision between the games they cant go without and the games theyll have to leave till a later time.

While I agree, the money factor crosses all genres, meaning that for those who are cash strapped, Black Ops 2's biggest rival may end up being a game such as Assassin's Creed 3 rather than a competing FPS.

Out of these 3, I'll definitely be buying Halo 4 and Borderlands 2, but probably passing on Black Ops 2. The last COD game I picked up was MW2, and although I am glad to see Treyarch trying some new things, Halo 4's fiction just has me a lot more excited.

i agree. but i never said it was limited to each genre

Thanks for the comment Evildead360.

I do respectfully beg to differ. I have almost every COD game for the multiplayer aspect of it as well as Borderlands. Given the option between Black Ops 2 and Borderlands 2, my personal choice would be Borderlands 2.

Absent Borderlands 2, I would buy Black Ops 2 over Halo 4. Again, this is a scenario where I would only have one option and based on my personal preference.

I think gamers like me and many others don't have to choose. We can buy all three, no sweat. But some don't have that option.

Black Ops 2, moving into a more sci-fi genre by going futuristic, aligns it just a tad closer to Borderlands 2 and Halo 4, but as the article states,

"While the gameplay dynamic and game setting of these contenders is much different than that of the Call of Duty games, at the end of the day, they are vying for the same core audience, and are intent on making converts of hardcore COD fans"

and I will add vying for the same $$.

Thanks again for the comment. Very good point actually. Although all three would be considered shooters, the expected gaming experience is different for Black ops 2 than for Borderlands 2 and Halo 4.

At least you come right out and assert yourself as the author and submitter of the article. I say this because of some of the shady stuff that comes through here with mulitple accounts, staff posing as regular commenters to stir contraversy in their own articles, etc.

Big ups to you sir.

Xursz! Thanks for the big ups!

In retrospect, I do think Evildead had a valid point. These 3 games may not be in direct competition with each other, but I would not have come to that point of view had I tried to artificially create buzz with dummy accounts or staff.

This is an opinion piece and reading other's opinions helps in creating better, read worthy content.

I will say that I do agree with Lastdual's comment. At the end of the day, all games are in competition with each other to some extent.

Thanks again. I really appreciate yours, and everyone else's comments and Approvals!

I agree with Evil Dead for once. Borderlands 2 isn't competing with either of them. Halo and Blops are competing head-to-head for the same audience of teens and bros. Most will likely buy both, but it remains to be seen which one will be getting more play time.

Of the 3, I'm only looking forward to Borderlands 2.
