Role-Playing: Sony's Kaz Hirai

GamesIndustry International happy to present you with another exclusive installment in our "Role-Playing" feature series, which tasks top industry journalists and pundits with filling the large shoes of bigwigs at major gaming companies. Previously, we looked at newly minted Microsoft man Phil Harrison and Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata. This time, we're putting a magnifying glass to Sony head Kaz Hirai, particularly with the $380 million acquisition of cloud gaming firm Gaikai at top of mind. (Industry, Kaz Hirai, Sony)

You need more than PlayStation to get Sony out of trouble since the gaming competition is fierce and tough.

They need change. They have stayed complacent as others have grown and adapted. Don't be a RIM . See the change and execute.

You need more than a streaming service to get people to buy a Sony TV anymore or any Sony product out of the PlayStation brand. Sony leaves a bad taste in peoples mouth now.

But I think they can do, now will they well that we will see but if they aren't fit to compete they will just wither away slowly just the truth of business.

Good thing they have more than Playstation then eh.

Look at how well Spiderman is doing for example.

Well that changes everything right? They have high performing movies for years yet are still in trouble.

I don't want you to feel some type of way because I posted my opinion either.

Just merely remarking on the fact that Sony has a steep battle to get back with competitors outside of the home gaming console space.
BitbyDeath  +   651d ago
That i can agree with. :-)
The media in particular.

I know right, Sony hardware is sooo unreliable and breaks that it does leave a bad taste in peoples mouths /s. Why aren't they dead yet ?

"Just merely remarking on the fact that Sony has a steep battle to get back with competitors outside of the home gaming console space."

The necessity of this? Who DOESN'T know this? That's like going outside on a bright, sunny day and saying, "Well, the sky is blue. Just remarking on that fact."

I didn't know I would upset people this much talking about a company. If I have offended you in anyway I apologize as I know that Sony means very much to you guys. /s

Give me a break.
Skateboard  +   651d ago
I'm not upset it is just you don't know what you're talking about. "Sony leaves a bad taste in peoples mouth" Ummmm lol, yeahhhhh.

For one, your comment was made with disregard to things that have already been established.

Sony's restructuring their company drastically, and have been doing so since at least last year. Gaikai isn't the only thing they've acquired, and such acquisitions essentially PROVE they're doing more than just relying on Playstation.

What bothers people isn't you "talking about a company." It's your obvious trolling attempts based on misinformation.

Off-topic: A first party PS3 rpg would be nice

Jbsleek, I agree with you, so many times I speak about Sony as a company, and I guess it means I hate the games, or the entertainment that Sony gives me. People blindly love Sony as a company. They love the ps3 and dislike/ hate anyone who talks about anything that could be attached to Playstation in ANY way. I've just learned that things are just going to be that way.

And Sony does leave a bad taste in your mouth.... If you in anyway invested in them.

How would you know ? Do you have anything Sony : )
Edward75  +   650d ago
Yes, not just all the systems, but I am an owner in Sony, bestbuy, and Sega/Sammy. Not much at all, but enough to be angry. The most recent purchase was a first edition vita. I even bought the pspgo (horrible choice). I am an older gamer, retired with children that are probably close to your age. Probably :)

@konabro his comments aren't hateful, but the thing is ... Isn't he right?

Yup.
Gotta love the shills like JBSleek trying to act like the neutral man when he clearly wears his fanboyism on his sleeve.
