He's a cautionary tale I tell to newbies. ;)

I've only ever played 'Healer' in Flyff.

The Assist class actually felt needed in the world. And people would gravitate toward you.

Nub: "Buff Please :)"

Me: "No problem buddy..."

So there was a tank the other day in DCU. We're going up against a boss, and nearly the whole team gets wiped. Just me(the healer), a DPS, and the tank are still up out of 8 people.

I do the best I can, but without a troller, there's only so much I can do to keep the other two alive. So the DPS drops, and it's just me and the tank. I die just before the end of the battle, and he beats the boss...

... after which he WON'T SHUT UP. I'm like, "Dude, the only reason you were alive that long is because I kept your ass alive that long. We had to kick him, because he was doing such a poor job after that, and even decided to not join the fight at all. Which was fine; we beat the boss without him in that situation.

I see this a lot. Too often the melees over-value themselves or under-value everyone else.

That's the guy I'd let find traps in DDO.

I like that the healer role has started to diverge a bit from staring at bars and clicking heals. I had a lot of fun playing a Minstrel in LotRO.
