Assassin's Creed movie – 8 reasons it might be the best game movie to date

GR: If movie adaptations of video games have a reputation for one thing, it’s for sucking. Terrible decisions just seem to plague them from day one. A Super Mario Bros that looks Blade Runner? Jean-Claude Van Damme playing Guile in a Street Fighter about terrorism? Hollywood, what are you smoking?

That’s why the news that Ubisoft’s newly-minted film division is working with Michael Fassbender on an Assassin’s Creed movie is so exciting. If this collaboration pans out, it could set a new standard for how material like this is handled. So look out Hollywood, the bar is about to be raised. We know that Lara Croft: Tomb Raider looks like Chinatown after watching the Double Dragon movie, but we’ve got a few reasons why this Assassin’s Creed movie could end up the vest video game movie yet. (Assassin's Creed, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

As long as it's not like the Prince of Persia movie, I'm good.

Agreed. The only thing I'm worried about is Fassbender. Now don't get me wrong, he is a fantasic actor but isn't the main character middle eastern. Just saying.

No Altair is white, but Ezio was an italian. So not sure how close to the plot their sticking, but Fassbender is a great choice for Altair in my opinion.
Michael Fassbender was in.... che cazzo?

(Few minutes later)

Oh yeah! "Then we will fight in the shade."
So we know he can handle the action.
He's got the acting skills.
He should be fine.

@KanadianKid. For the record, Altair ibn LaAhad was born and raised in Syria... that's in the middle east. This makes Altair middle eastern. Ezio was whiter than Altair.

Of course, if he can pull off Spartan and mutant and Nazi killer, I think he can handle all three Assassins (Altair, Ezio, and Desmond)

Altair is not "white" his speech was normal like a standard modern day American because the Animus was converting it into something that was easier for them to interpret. If you played AC Revelations you notice that he has an accent in the sections you play as him.

I honestly cant see Fassbender as Altair/Ezio or Desmond.

I would seriously hope they dont white wash the cast like they did with PoP, and actually cast genuine Middle Eastern or Italian actors to play the characters. Fassbender would make an excellent villain however, imo.

He's a great actor, but there are some character who actors shouldnt play out of respect for the source material.
