Final Fantasy is coming to steam officially. You are going to be able to download in between 7 – 10 Dollars. It is going to have slightly improved graphics and support for all Operating Systems.
I hope that lasts forever and SE never remakes it. FFVII is a milestone in gaming and a fantastically influential memory on the road to where the industry is today.
If they're using FFVIII PC as a gauge for a remake, please don't buy it!
Look at most remakes, both movies and games. How well do they turn out of average? I would like to see another CG movie or a FFVII-2 as a follow up on the Genesis arc they started... And seemingly forgot about.
If they could do it right, I would like to see a remake, but thing about it, after seeing SE doddle around for the last few years, ignoring their fanbase and westernizing their games, would you want it remade?
I don't they they could do it justice in their current state.
I'm still trying to figure out how Final Fantasy XIII is Westernized or any the First Production Departments games are westernized lately. It's not like any western game I've ever played. The Japanese steam punk, The insane pink, white and bleach blonde hair cuts, over the top weapons and moves, anime type costumes, characters like Vanille based on anime cliches...
I'm saying whether or not XIII is a good or bad game though--that debate is past me. lol. But I'm still curious.

I'm not sayin that all Japanese games are deep and all US games are shallow, I'm just sayin that traditionally, JRPG titles aren't quite like that...The story was too....I don't even know. The game looked Japanese but it didn't FEEL Japanese.
why would square do something stupid like that, you guys basically shout and pout about this game so much, that word of mouth actually has been garnering square hundreds of thousands of customers each day. hell all you guys are doing is giving square free advertisement. once people realize that in order to get what they want from these comapnies you have to vote with your wallet shit will start going the consumers ways alot more. like forreal lets be honest here if people would stop buying FF games what do you think square is gonna do to get the people interested again ...... I thought Final Fantasy IX was great. In fact Hironobu Sakaguchi is quoted as calling the game the closest game to his vision of what he wanted Final Fantasy to be.
Even if they sold 4 million copies, the game wouldn't be profitable. To render that entire world in graphics similar to that tech demo would probably bakrupt most studios. I don't think people realize just how much bigger worlds from the ps1 and super nintendo era were compared to todays games.It's just not economically feasible yet. Furthermore remaking the game in the way people want it would destroy all of the charm that the game had. Not to mention a lot of the scenes...honey bee manor I'm looking at you... would just be not so much funny as creepy if done in non chibi style graphics. Such a remake would not uphold the original creative vision of the game. Personally I believe that most of the people requesting a remake are those who never played the original and just can't stand the extremely dated graphics. I'd be happy with just updating all of the character models and battle graphics, while preserving the originally intended style.

But the true reason he said that is that he is very proud to admit that the new Square which he lead as CEO is not capable enough to make a game of the quality hes predecessor Hironobu Sagakuchi himself create, the guy is a sore looser & incompetent fool and no matter how many years he keep on trying to surpass Sagakuchi he will always be in his shadow.
Wada is just a businessman and a very bad one while Sagakuchi is the father of Final Fantasy and a true GENIUS his name is already of legendary status & the history will never forget him while in the case of Wada history will never want to remember that he ever existed.. I hope something happen soon and some1 else take his place before he drag the company down to the ground.
FFVII is an iconic and legendary game. To a lot of us, it's the sole reason we got into gaming. It will forever be in our hearts and memories. The game has such a vast and powerful fanbase. That fanbase (myself included) holds it in such high regard, that I almost fear no remake would ever please us. Not because the remake wouldn't be good, but because nothing can ever be perfect, and we as die hard FFVII fans would demand nothing less than pure perfection. I think Square knows this and doesn't want to tarnish the game in any way by not being able to live up to the ridiculous standards that we as fans, would undoubtedly judge the remake by. As much as I would truly love to see a remake, I don't think it would ever happen.
This article offends me as a reader. It shows forth lack of reverence to the Final Fantasy series in general, plus uses generalizations like, "The developer of FF7", among other things. Bah.
I don't want it to happen, but if Square-Enix should fall into financial trouble one day (and, looking at the state of Japanese game development, that's not really a stretch) I don't wanna hear any of their excuses. The game has been demanded for years, literally, and they have simply refused to give their supporters what they want. Graphical overhaul aside, we're talking about a project that needs no writers and no new music. It could easily be developed as a side project alongside whatever else they're working on.
Also, Square-Enix of right now would only destroy and ruin it. I hope they never remake it, especially since some like toriyama said they would change things.

Because they want us to get FF13-3 & versus 13.. Theyre just giving 10 a HD makeover & not totally remaking it so i can understand that but damn, a FF7 remake REAL REMAKE would be a HUGE project & i think PS4 will be the platform its done on.. Those pre rendered backgrounds will be fully bump mapped polygons & the characters, etc using the luminous engine is the way a remake should be for a game of that calibur
Cause it wouldn't meet expectations.. at all. They have enough ongoing projects as it is and it would take many years for them to do. Building all the assets again with modern 3D environments in mind and making sure they do it right, so that people don't complain that "it's too different". Meanwhile you people will complain that it's taking too long or that it's vaporware like they say about Versus Xiii.
I swear some of you 'fans' are pathetic. If you love it so much, keep playing it. Let them bring out new things. It's like nagging a band to re-record their masterpiece when they just want to move forward.
