Michael Fassbender to star in, produce 'Assassin's Creed' movie

Michael Fassbender will star in and produce a movie based on Ubisoft's hit video game series Assassin's Creed.

The games' storyline follows a bartender who learns that he is a descendant of famous assassins after being kidnapped by the Knights Templar. The action takes place during the Crusades and Renaissance.

Shame star Fassbender will co-produce the movie project with his DMC Film partner Conor McCaughan and Ubisoft Motion Pictures, reports Variety.

"Michael Fassbender was our first choice," said UMP CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet. "Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor."

The movie will be rated PG or PG 13 and will suck because it will be made for a quick buck and wont be made for the fans or have a proper rating of R.

it might sucks indeed , but why does it have to do with the ratings ?

Assassin's creed was hardly that mature or even gory, hell ac2 and its spin offs would probably go down in ratings without the "sex" scenes .

We see more sex and violence in the usual pg13 movies than the AC games

Ubisoft will be heavily involved with this project and they wont allow it to be a failure like prince of persia was when they handed it over to disney and jerry bruckheimer.

Ubisoft may be able to change the film industry by actually developing a great movie adaptation to the assassin's creed franchise.

I'm more excited about Fassbender being invested enough to put his own money into it .

Publishers always claim they'll be very involved with movies .

Anyway i'm cautiously confident about the project for now

Love this guy. He was the saving grace of Prometheus and did an awesome job with his Nazi vengeance in X-men First class.

Fassbender was excellent as Magneto in Xmen-First Class & he was really good in Prometheus so there is no denying he is a very capable actor.

Most video game movies are dead in the water cause of the script & story. Directors feel the need to make it their own & change things unnecessarily. If any video game movie has the chance to be successful it will rely heavily on the script, so hopefully the ones being made as we speak (Assassins Creed, Uncharted, SOTC) have good stories & scripts.

As a whole Prometheus was pretty underwhelming, the hype about its relation with the Alien universe left many people wanting more.

Anyways Fassbender was one of the best characters in the film. And absolutely agree with you he owned that performance as Magneto in First Class. Definitely lived up to the shoes that Sir Ian McClennan was in the previous films.

Centurian is quite good.
He put in a good performance in the mediocre ( in my opinion ) Jonah Hex.

The thing with videogame movie adaptations is that most of them don't see the light of day. Uncharted movie? Halo movie? Shadow Of The Colossus Movie? Most of these movies would be great to see on the big screen (Hell, I'd love to see a Red Dead film) but it's like waiting on SW: Battlefront 3 for them. Tons of hype for months, they get cancelled, and then we see little bits of footage of what could have been. I really hope they stick to releasing the films in the future.

Prince Of Persia on the other hand...lol no, that was...no. xD

This guy has a huge ****, did you watch Shame? Xmen First Class was the last good comic book movie and this actor was one of the reasons for that.
