Final Fantasy VII Re-release: What Does It Mean For PlayStation?

Play-Mag writes: Could this be Square Enix testing the waters – seeing how much interest it can conjure up by offering a slightly retouched version of one of its most-beloved properties? Could it be a gateway step to the studio releasing a full-on, proper remake of Final Fantasy VII? Could it just be the first release before this slightly revamped version hits PSN? (Final Fantasy VII, PC, PS3)

The one thing I am wondering, or maybe I missed it...Does the PC re-release come with STEAM achievements?

EDIT:

I ask because if they do release achievements then they know they can right code to coexist with the game. It could be that the game will have the ability to have those perks. Maybe this means Sony or anyone, could start adding Trophies/Achievements into classic titles. Although many fans have just been asking for a remake since the E3 Tech Demo.

It has unlockments, but isn't being released on Steam.

Pretty sure its been found in the Steam deelies, so theres no reason why it would not support it.

Steam registries for the game were found last year, so it's entirely possible it will be released for steam. I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't.

"Available Exclusively on the SQUARE ENIX Store"

So, yeah, I'm sure a year ago it was planned, but the most recent information says other wise.

It's Square Enix.

I am happy with my original copy of FFVII. I still have my Tshirt too.

No Steam, no-buy.

Square had best release this on steam!!!

Why the speculations? SE already stated that they would not make a FF7 remake until their newer line of FF games were as good as the originals. I think thats more important than the FF7 remake. I wouldn't want it to turn out like FF13.

Since Square has shown no real indication to focus on one platform, it means nothing. Less than nothing given that we're talking about a reissue and only a reissue.

It means 'nahny nahny boo boo, even though you've begged for it on Ps3 for years, we've decided to release it on PC instead'

I don't think it means anything. It's not updated in graphics and nothing else is changed. Just a rerelease like the one on psn

They probably did it to annoy fans even more I mean isn't that the reason they do anything nowadays? the best example to prove that is that idiotic thing Mr-retard-Wada said "No 'Final Fantasy VII' Remake Until Original Has Been Surpassed"
what can u say to something like this? ~.~ the guy is a dreamer he leave in the clouds and he search there for his own Cloud he think if he try hard enough his own Cloud will appear before him & this will secure him a position in the "HALL OF LEGENDS" like his predecessor in the company.

dream on Wada-chan, dream on...
