A Fallout 4 to-do list: drivable cars, new Vaults, more exploitation

OXM - Now that we've got most of Skyrim nailed, it's time to start looking at the next open-world RPG on the horizon. Fallout 4 hasn't been announced, but it remains as inevitable as the next Call of Duty game. We've poured more hours than we'd like to admit into the Fallout series, which theoretically puts us in a good position to start loudly shouting about what we want to see next. On that note, here's our wishlist for Fallout 4. (Fallout 4, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Looking forward to Fallout 4, hopefully itll be a next gen game (PS4 etc) im very sure it will be
Yi-Long  +   344d ago
This might sound 'evil' or 'bad' or whatever....
... but I really want the next game to also have the freedom to kill ALL NPC's, and not just the adults.

I hate censorship, and not allowing my character to kill the kids IS PC censorship.
DasTier  +   344d ago
I agree, but it will never happen, did you see the media backlash they got because modders made it possible in Skyrim?
fossilfern  +   344d ago
Theres a PC mod where you can kill the kids... If your interested :D
Muffins1223  +   344d ago
I knowww.The kids i dont want to kill but certain people in fallout just get in your way and you shoot them, they fall down and get right back up and keep on doing it till they kill you.Its soo gay.In vault 101 i try to kill that annoying ass red head that was like "YOU KILLED MY FATHER OMGZ" because her father was a douchbag and wouldn't let me get out...
ApolloTheBoss  +   344d ago
To tell you the truth: I think Bethesda WANTED to put killing kids in Skyrim but they removed it for fear of lawsuits. Why else would they have a "being killed" phase when you did so via mod?
Vettur  +   343d ago
Since 2005 (I think) it has been illegal to hurt kids in games ;(

Fallout 4...
I want it

DO NOT PUT DRIVEABLE CARS IN FALLOUT!
Megaton  +   344d ago
They'd have to flatten a lot of the terrain and space out cities more to make cars plausible. I think I'd rather not have cars if that's the sacrifice. Maybe an ATV or something at most.
r21  +   344d ago
not cars but at least bikes or hover boards.
-Alpha  +   344d ago
How about a horribly mutated giant, enemy crab? I'd like to ride into town in one of those
MattyG  +   344d ago
You mean one where you attack it's weak points for massive damage?
titans9999  +   344d ago
I like new Vegas, mine is not broken
,
showtimefolks  +   344d ago
simple please have less gaming breaking glitches

Please either wait for new consoles and do it on those or build a brand new engine. Maybe use latest update of skyrim engine

other than that FO is one of the best games
Hazmat13  +   344d ago
more envirments and little patches of green and come citys overgrown with grass and tress. no drivable vehicles of any kind. more mods for guns and more guns.and if your using the engine that skyrim has dynamic shadows a little more color but not too much.
Patriots_Pride  +   344d ago
"more envirments and little patches of green and come citys overgrown with grass and tress. "

What are you on about? You do realize that Fall Out is a post apocalyptic game right.
Son_Lee  +   344d ago
I'll get slaughtered for this, but I want a cover system. It is abnormal for any game with shooting involved that you can't take cover. It doesn't have to turn into a Gears of War-fest; just let it be used to take cover in anything. Incorporate some stealth with it, too.
memic  +   340d ago
i agree in a way, i would first like to see how sucessful the Dishonoured cover system is. I don't think that it s nescessary for stealth though, if the dev put half the effort the stealth as it did in skyrim i think stealth would be more important and rewarding(stealth kill animations). Dev's need to learn to inspire from the kings of that respective gameplay. If fallout had stealth mechanics from.. lets say splinter cell and assasins creed that part of the gameplay would be substationally better.

8bitHero  +   344d ago
i just want fallout 4 NAO!! no but really one the main things i want is mods on the console version. and also for it to run on my laptop :3
MattyG  +   344d ago
I don't really want cars in Fallout 4. Yes the fast travel system makes the game seem smaller in scale, but forcing the player to walk to every undiscovered location is half the fun of Fallout. There's little surprises on the walk to new places, whereas with a car you might breeze right by without noticing them. Also, I actually want Bethesda to do Fallout 4. I like Fallout 3 MUCH more than NV. New Vegas just didn't feel as post apocalyptic as it could have (or should have).
mistajeff  +   344d ago
New Vegas was sort of post- post-apocalyptic, though being 200 years after the blast, it makes sense. 40 years after Fallout 2, where would the NCR be? They were already an established nation in the 2nd game. Vegas wasn't a blast zone, because of House's calculated pre-war actions and his defense network. In fact, Fallout 3 didn't exactly make sense for when it took place. 50 years after the war, I could see that, but 200? In the first Fallout, 80 years after the war, you had cities based on trade and towns oriented around farming. Farming wasn't really touched on in Fallout 3, at all. It seemed like most people were still scrounging for 200-year-old food instead of trying to make it themselves. I agree with you about transportation, though. It worked in Fallout 2 because of the structure of the game world, but in a denser wasteland like 3 or NV, it would kill the fun of exploration.
mistajeff  +   344d ago
Good article. But what I want more than anything is some fleshed out choice and consequence, and reactivity to your actions within the game world. I would argue that these are the most important elements to a fallout game, and fallout 3 seemed to fall off in that regard. That, and Bethesda pretty much butchered the lore. Elder Scrolls is one thing, but Bethesda really needs to see that choosing what order to do quests in and where you want to go first doesn't comprise the meat of a good non-linear, open-world narrative.

Secondarily, I'd like to see more cities and towns (I'm pretty sure Fallout 1's Junktown, 120 years before Fallout 3, had more occupants than Megaton and Rivet City), better writing, more dialog choices (that reward you with more dialog and information, not just a quick tangible payoff to push you on your way), and characters that are more fleshed out. I fully agree with the author's exploitation and "atmosphere of risk" suggestions.

Cars is a NO NO, but a jetpack that needs a rare fuel maybe. they should also throw in an online arena, to show your friends how badass you really are. And to top it off a SIMS like Vault that you can build and be the Mayor of... and maybe attack other towns or vaults.
darkgod  +   344d ago
onlie areana witht that bad combat? ill pass.
Over726  +   343d ago
You never know. Have some hope. You dont want to play with yourself forever.
Heavenly King  +   344d ago
I would also like bikes XD
darkgod  +   344d ago
remove all laggyness. bad combat, bad visuals, bad art, and gliches. man they have some work to do. and those who disagree well state ur reason. cus i honestly think they need to really do something about all these issues.
Walking around in Fallout 3 I often thought "how is it possible so many cars all around and no one working?".

So, yes, Fallout 4 has to have some vehicles that work in order to be coherent and with a minimum of realism. Modern times have vehicles, it simply can' t be that ALL of them are broken.

It's up to developers to make it work correctly with this feature and give you enough reason to get off a car and exploring by feet.

A solution could be this: cars are not built to travel on rough terrain and then deteriorate so rapidly that no player would really use a car to explore land outside the paved areas. Besides, in an area hit by a nuclear catastrophe the roads are not good or even interrupted, this will limit the abuse of the use of a car for the pure exploration.

I don' t see big problems to implement cars in Fallout 4, there are some good and realistic solution.
In fact, I'd say that if they don' t give us drivable car/cars it' s because they are lazy, nothing less nothing more.

drivable cars
As long there´s various hazards of doing so like minefields, high radiation, raider/mercs with heat seeking rocket lanchers and such.

Not to mention you would only have to carry a single gas can for each trip so that you couldnt go very far.

they need to say forget elder scrolls mmo there is already world of warcraft there is no good shooter mmo. make it huge and how u really creat the world with ur own fractions with ur friends. take over other ppls land. o and make each character 10 cents and everytime u kill someone u get 9 of the cents. make it a lil more interesting.
memic  +   340d ago
vehicles could work but you would have to restrict them to highways, roads etc. and limit their speed, as to not shadow the exploration in the game. The dev's because of this fact would use a rather large setting when a smaller, inclosed one (abandoned subway tunnels, large office buildings) could work so well for the series. I, personally would enjoy, say, a New York/ Manhatten setting. You could use central park as an infestation area field with day of the triffed plants, planet of the apes smart monkeys etc, invoking some of that dark 50-60 humour that is key to the fallout series. Have the Brotherhood of Steel base in the statue of liberty and maybe have a ghostbuster like moment with it nearing the endgame. (Just for lols). The massive population in the city could be used to amass feral ghouls into zombie hordes. Also i think they should bring back the enclave, (I know u miss them too...sniffle). maybe put them in the Empire State Building and make them more racist and cruel. Bethesda should also realy rethink morals in game, that meter thingy should be removes. Many games could learn a lot from Spec Ops: The Line in that regard. They should greater emphaise fallouts dark message "But war... war never changes"(its in sepia for all them hipsters). Make all your choses seem obsolute, you saved some ghouls... sorry they got gunned down by mercs , cleared a water supply did you, well that started a religous uprising. I don't know exactly why but im not desighning the game, i would like to but im not. Sorry for the long post probobly should've just made an article, i might do that
