DSOGaming writes: "Gearbox’s CEO, Randy Pitchford, said during a developer’s session at Rezzed that the first Borderlands game has sold 6 million units – something remarkable for a new IP – and that the company will do their best to offer the best possible PC version."
Steam games seem to have Cloud saves more and more! lol some have to pay for that!
" According to Pitchford, PC gamers expect better treatment within the game itself."
lol that makes console gamers look bad.
also, saying the pc version is the best one these days really is unnecessary.
Actually, it's not at all. If you pay attention to the PC gaming community, you'll see that a lot of us are pissed at the quality of ports (*cough* Dark Souls *cough*) on the PC and, considering the first Borderlands on PC had had FOV problems, aspect ration problems, FPS problems, mouse acceleration problem, mouse smoothing problems, a lack of anti-aliasing, among others... it's pretty necessary to keep the PC market intrigued in your sequel after being disregarded the first time.
In general though, people complaining on forums dont represent the whole, so many people bought games that are apparently shit...
Atleast PC gamers have that option. Console gamers are locked down to the same 6 years old hardware.
And no PC gamers dont need to upgrade all the time, its a luxury they do have however it is not a requirement. Even today 4-5 year old GPUs like 8800gtx which released at the time of these consoles, far outperform these consoles. So no only one missing out are consoles gamers who dont have the option to upgrade and are stuck with old hardware.
" According to Pitchford, PC gamers expect better treatment within the game itself."
lol that makes console gamers look bad.
*********
How so? If anything, it makes PC gamers look bad. If PC gamers really think they deserve "better treatment" just because they are on PC, that just paints them as entitled.
Now, if we are talking about catering to each platform's strengths, whether it's a specific interface or graphics, I'd say we all deserve the same treatment... a game that caters to the strength of the platform we've chosen.
But "better treatment" was what the article wrote, not a specific quote from Pitchford, so I doubt that's what he was saying. I think, if anything, he was just saying PC gamers expect a game that's more than a console game shoehorned onto PC.
Or he's saying "better treatment" in comparison to poor treatment he thinks they showed to PC gamers, in which case it makes sense. But even then, it doesn't make console gamers who were content with the effort put into the console versions look bad.
Is it because I wasn't dumping on lowly console gamers?
Or is it because I said anyone expecting preferential treatment beyond getting the best version possible on their platform of choice has a false sense of entitlement?
and the special edition for $99
loot edition i will keep new because i want to own something rare lol and that loot edition went within few week after being announced
can't wait to finally play it, i spent so much time in borderlands and let's be honest the game was a good but this one seems to have a diverse world, even better and more verity in weapons along with what seems like a properly funny story
Features that every PC title, Exclusive or Port should have!
Gonna pick up Borderlands 2 PC just cause Gearbox has made an effort for my platform instead of making a crappy port!
Going by VG Chartz (I know I know not super accurate) Add 360 + PS3 then minus 6 million and the PC is looking at 1.6m units sold which is easy to believe seeing how Borderlands was on Steam!
Hands down.
I shall probably rent it on for the PS3 tbh, Borderlands was too easy imo, and abit boring, i really hope B2 is bigger with more to do, but im expecting more of the same *shoot shoot shoot*
Id be happy if the enemies where bigger and harder to kill, thatll satisfy me enough to buy it, i flew through Borderlands, one of the easiest platinums i earned
For once i might take note of a review or 5
While the PC is usually the best performance-wise, more often than not it gets games that were clearly made with consoles in mind.
This results in controls that are inadequate for the mouse and keyboard and UI's that function as though the game thinks you're holding a gamepad. Vanilla Skyrim was a good example of this though mods have now fixed those issues. Perhaps a more recent example would be Ghost Recon: Future Soldier in which the PC clearly got the shaft and console gamers got the better deal.
So what are we to do?
Oh I know use a controller until a KB/m patch comes out or just skip it and buy a Proper PC game!
Its a great game bu the PC version(since it was ported from consoles maybe?) is rather messy.
Almost every issue requires you altering core game files to fix and there's a lot of issues. Screen tearing, FOV, jumping feels floaty, aim assist(the only one that can be fixed in game) etc.
Well deserved too: Borderlands was tremendous and I can't wait for Borderlands 2.

Better than an online pass though (you can at least install Borderlands DLC on multiple PCs).

This seems odd to me "According to Pitchford, PC gamers expect better treatment within the game itself."
So console owners don't (expect better treatment) but still shell out $60 for the game ($10 more than the PC version) and thus get the inferior version.
Thats a great statement of how you care about a large portion of your consumers over the others.
OT: getting this game, but probably not right away. Will wait for the complete edition :)
My PC has hardware far more powerful then my two consoles, it's not a secret and this shouldn't come as a surprise. My PC allows for a huge level of customization and those settings should always be visible and accessible.
No one is saying less time is being devoted to the console version or that it will be any less. He's just confirming that the PC will also be able to share in the same polished experience the console gamers got with Borderlands when it launched.
Just not my type of game.
Better framerate, better resolution, more and better AA, better shadows, texture, lightning, better latency, mods support, you can play on 3 monitor surround, in 3d, on insane resolution, dev can offer more patch = faster fix for bugs, you can play with keyboard & mouse or your favorite controller (360/ps3 as you wish)the list goes on and on.
Anyone saying otherwise is just wrong.
Wouldn't pay a £1 for that game or the sequel.
I would definitely buy this game knowing that it is using steam works and not shitty gamespy.
:)
