Why do you play video games?

Stuff writes: It's a question that pops into my head from time to time: why do I play video games? What is it about the pastime that captures my attention and makes me want to play because, as we know, not everyone is enamoured by the video game industry? (3DS, Culture, PC, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360)

I play games because the human race has turned to a nasty piece of s**t. All i need is my dog and my ps3. ;)

It's what you make of it. If the dark side of humanity doesn't effect you than consider the advantage you have to be the person you want to be, while doing the best you can to help change humanity, every small help counts ;)

As for this pointless topic, why else...cause gaming is FUN!

Nothing else to do!

Besides it's safer in doors, don't want to get eaten by Zombies or have my Nikes stripped searched at the Airport!

Going outside is just a friggin hassle!

1: Love how I can get the sense of destroying, creating, discovering via an interactive medium.

2: it's rewarding. Invest time = you gain experience (in the most basic terms)

3: You feel like you belong to a very active group of people, who share the same passion.

and finally because I am good at it :)

I play for fun, sometimes competitively. That is what gaming is all about in my opinion. If your not having fun, your doing it wrong.

Cause reality really sucks and it keeps a calm center within me. Just want to forget about money troubles for a couple hours and play some rage or gears of war.
Waddy101  +   320d ago
I play games because it's fun and enjoyable.
Isn't that the point?

To escape pressures in my real life and enjoy some of the best stories in entertainment. Gaming is a better experience than movies because its all interactive... It gives people the abilty to things they cant do in real life due to whatever problem... Its also a great tool to see how creative people can be too. IMO

Because I"m poor and life sucks. When you have nothing else to do.

It beats hanging out on the streets all day.

I used to play games when I was a little boy. My neighborhood was bad so I stayed in plus I really enjoyed it. That was a while ago. Stop playing games for a little bit in my early 20's thought it was not cool and started hanging out more. Then I got shot by gang bangers for no reason at all. Now I just kick back, play games when I'm not working, and smoke my bong while playing GT5. That's the life for me.
