Today sees the official launch of the Dead Island – Game of the Year Edition. A little later than originally planned, Dead Island – Game of the Year Edition is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, courtesy of Deep Silver.
Yes sir, why not indeed.
This was GOTY?
Must be sad times in the industry if anyone thought this was GotY material.
It's the best zombie game this gen.
IMO it is not. that goes to the left 4 dead & dead rising series.
Again, for all those people wondering, calling your game 'Game of the Year' means nothing. You don't need anyone - media outlet or otherwise - to have claimed that in order to call a product it. There are no rules, you can call your product whatever the hell you like.
They could have called it 'Game of the Millennia' if they really wanted.
Actually, nobody would have named this game GOTY edition if it hadn't really won anything cause it would be confusing. I'm pretty sure even winning just one award entitles the developer to make a GOTY. Not that it deserved one but yea, it would have been dumb to call this a GOTY edition if it didn't won any award to any category. It probably won trailer of the year if that's a category.
Nope. You don't need to have won anything. You can call the game what you like, there are no rules.
The reason many publishers opt for 'GOTY' these days is because that's what generally accepted as being the version that includes all the add-ons. But again, they don't need anyone to have claimed it as being 'GOTY' to call it that.
Not sure why you're getting disagree's you're absolutely right, Borderlands didn't win GOTY through Spike, however there is a GOTY version. Now if Borderlands won a GOTY award outside of the Spike awards I couldn't find anything about that.
You did not look hard, plenty of small sites gave it GOTY in 2009. Also, don`t ever cite the Spike awards as something that actually means anything. Uncharted 2 might have won that year, but it does not change the fact that Spike had it pitted against AssCreed 2,L4D2, MW2 and Arkham Asylum. Arkham and UNcharted 2 were the only 2 games that deserved to be Nominated on their nominee list by a long shot. Spike has ZERO credibility.
There's no way im buying this trash again, All it does is corrupt saves over and over.
I swear I saw this weeks ago at our local store.
Who do you Voodoo! that was just awfull
Lol "funny" story about that: my buddy and I played through the full game cooperatively, right. So he picks the black girl without telling me(me assuming he would pick the asian woman) and I picked the black guy (him assuming I would pick the All-American Texan). So after we saw each other and had a good laugh about it we beat the game. When that song hit... I was so embarrassed. I felt as if I were somehow to blame for that atrociously pointless, generic song... Lol (See why I put funny in quotes? ;)
See I have no problem with the game itself, just how they portrayed the rapper. It was SO stereotypical. While me and my friends were listening to him explain his bio, we were laughing at how messed up it was. (it also being really implausible that that amount of bad things happened to him). Then as the song came on, I had to shake my head in shame. Yes it's a generic rap song, but I wished they would have picked a better portrayal of him. One thing I liked about Left 4 Dead was that even Louis was like-able while I just hated the guy in Dead Island. In short it was like looking into how general America thinks of us African Americans. Not to rant about it, I just didn't like it.
Although I myself am not black, you'd have to be blind to not see what you mentioned. The stereotypes, and whatnot. I don't know why people can't put good, original black characters in things. Morpheus from 'The Matrix' comes immediately to mind. Point being..... I know what you mean, and it's plain silly how things are.
