Wii U & Nintendo 3DS Will Have Unified Account Systems

David Marshall, a Nintendo customer service representative, has announced that a “unified account system will be implemented later this year with the launch of the Wii U,” and the “same account system will be made compatible with Nintendo 3DS systems.” Marshall also revealed that if your Wii U or 3DS is stolen, Nintendo can transfer your account to a new system. (3DS, Nintendo, Tech, Wii U)

I hope that this means we can transfer Gameboy and GBA games from the 3DS to the WiiU.

Or better yet VC games from the Wii U into the 3DS. Now how cool would that be?

If Gamecube games are available for download on the WiiU, do you think that the 3DS could handle those?

@mike
No, the architecture is different, the gamecube would need to be emulated. Which simply won't work. Not with that limited power.

All vc games on the Wii came with their own emulator. That is why a game which should only take a few kb jumps up a few. ( and the HTML included help files )

I hope Nintendo help SK port Eternal Darkness 1, to 3DS and the WiiU- Silicon Knights needs the money.
Plus, it was a great gaming experience.

Without 3D on, sure, I see no reason why not. Some of the 3DS' games look a hecukuva lot better than many of the Gamecube's titles. Though I imagine the matter of 3DS porting would be complex for Nintendo's code team.

The thing is, its not just about comparing visuals, because like you say, there are some games that exceed what was on gcn.

The VC games are actually emulated, which is a much more intense process, so there is a very real possibility that GCN games might be a bit too much for the 3DS

Or all Virtual Console games, they should be able to be played on both like Playstation Classics on PS3 ans PSP were (also soon to be on PS Vita). Hopefully this means messaging, video calling, mii verse, and all of the Wii U's Nintendo Network features will also be compatible with the 3DS so they truly work together.

Does that means no friend codes

Good question
EPIKgamer  +   348d ago
It basicaly means gamer tags with friend codes attached to them, meaning its harder to hack someones account from what we know officially
DrRobotnik  +   348d ago
nope, friend codes will still be there. If they do use gamertags, it will be the generic family friendly kind they used in Brawl and Mario kart Wii online.
chanmasta  +   348d ago
All this "will be" statements coming from you when you don't work for Nintendo, so you don't know.
DrRobotnik  +   348d ago
Just wait and see. That's all I have too say.

Good news if you ask me. Just another reason why I am getting a WiiU.
