One of the first major games to offer free DLC's has been Modern Warfare 3 and with their continued success and player approval, it would be hard for other developers to not start offering the same. If Free DLC's in MW3 continue to be a big success, could we see a shift in the operation of the entire Video Game industry?
no..
lol...
sure wish it would..
now if Capcom would do this?..i think people MIGHT give them a second peek...as it stands..they have horrible business practices.
You know they could have charged for it and people would have bought it
I haven't really played MW3 since Christmas but the summer drought is on! I feel like there are no games right now.
May fire MW3 back up ... but ... probably not. Still cool giving people free DLC.
Also, this isn't free "DLC". When you see the massive patches PC players get for nothing, that's when you talk about "Free DLC".
lets be honest, if you arent happy with a game, then dont play it. there are tons out there, and im sure something will make you not such a complainer.
Dude, STFU now. Do you have any idea, the smallest tad of an idea, of how much money this franchise makes?
seriously....some of the comments on here are as bad as the articles.
lol..it's not a super secret thing that only you and your friends know..
so you're saying that Capcom doesn't have horrible business practices?...really?...
you're gonna sit there and defend a large corporation that doesn't care about you?..defend a giant corporation that just wants your money and assume you're an idiot?(which im guessing that assumption is right actually)
i will not "stfu"...you can "stfu" and keep paying for half a game...paying for over priced dlc...content that's on the disc already...first day patches...
and when a company released 1...1 map...cry like it's the best thing to happen to the industry since wireless controllers...
but me as a paying customer?..i feel the need to state my opinion, jr...sorry if it's not the same as yours..
so the mainstream games of the gen before this that had "DLC" were 95-99% PC games. and it wasnt even called DLC cause it was included in the standard updates for free.
hell look at DICE, before this gen of nickel and dime dlc they gave everything they made away fro free, except main expansions and those were later included in a patch for free to everyone.
Wahahahaha...pure gold comedy right here!
Polyphony Digital have paid DLC for paint chips! single use paint chips! theyve actually given out very few free DLC items. the Toyota 86 is about it really.
One car? I've can't recall how many free cars have appeared but it's far more than one. This next few weeks alone there are eight free cars for those that took part in the GT Academy which everybody was entitled to enter for free, including those that don't even own GT5.
I'm sorry, but one free map after seven years is a little late to the table and doesn't constitute a kickstart to free DLC. In short, it's been done before and better.
By the way, being the polar opposite to a fanboy is just as bad as being one.
Get back under your bridge.
He isn't the polar opposite to a fanboy. He's the polar opposite to a PS3 fanboy.
The season pass where you get all the DLC is a nice idea, but they're still too pricey. If Max Payne's season pass was $15 instead of $30, I'd gladly pay for it. And $50 for Elite and Battlefield Premium is just nuts. Giving out vouchers for discounted season passes as pre-order bonuses would be a good start. That, or giving away map packs a few months after a pack's release to those who come back to the game month after month would be a nice way to encourage people to hold onto their game. Hell, even lowering the price gradually would be cool.
There's so many map packs I would buy if the price was right, but especially with older stuff, you know you're just going to be throwing money out the window since so few people will be playing.
Both MW3 map packs are now up on XBL for half price.
As someone above mentioned that they haven't touched the game since Xmas sounds alot like me, I went ahead and got both packs mostly for the spec ops and to play the campaign. Ah the summer drought indeed!
I also noticed that there are still some exclusive stuff that can only be had by Elite members, Wonder if that will ever become open to everyone???
Like: these people are playing this dlc
These are playing this dlc and this dlc
these are playing this dlc, this dlc and this dlc
these people are playing none
I mean... thats one of the reasons why the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood multiplayer felt empty.
But, then again, those maps suck anyway.
I do like the idea of UGC. I would very much like to see it more widely implemented. I just don't know how it would work with MP maps.
