After a less than impressive E3 showing for Nintendo, the industry is waiting for the company to announce the final pieces of the puzzle: launch date and price. Nintendo typically doesn't announce exact hardware specs, but with more games on display for Wii U, it's now becoming easier to size up its graphical horsepower (which beforehand some had said was better than PS3). Microsoft, however, recently told GamesIndustry International that it views Wii U as basically on par with Xbox 360.
However, with the weak support from third parties shown so far I'm not certain it will match the Xbox 360. It will be more like a poor clone with excellent Nintendo titles!
Anyhow, excited to see things are moving forward and Wii U is where things are happening.
I like how the MS guy is not talking s#*t about the competition, he states what he thinks without downplaying the console, brand or anything, I was expecting something worst tbh
I don't think the U = X360, but N didn't show anything mind-blowing in their conference, also the massive focus in the tablet-controller *Alone* leaving the system out of the picture is kind of weird
I know they trying to pull another wii by showing the controller, but this time, a tablet is not something "revolutionary" at all, in fact, better be ready for the hordes of Apple fanboys calling out Nintendo for "stealing" Steve Jobs idea /rolleyes
Lets see what the masses that eat the wii like no else business will react to the new console :D
What do you mean?
First M$ said it got cloud gaming by the balls, now this.
ROFLMAO!
Does M$ own the Direct 11 technology?
OT:
I knew that Pro Controller thing will be M$ trojan horse to bash the hell out of Nintendo. Come on Nintendo that was really a lame move. All your years of building the so called "innovation" brand went down the drain in one fell swoop in just one day.
Errrr...yeah.....they do lol although Wii U will probably be OpenCL
Oh please... 7_7
oh wait
you insulted the wiiu
i forgot thats the cool thing to do here
This means early consoles will explode if you try to play on them for over two hours.
You guys have to admit, you all giggled like blushing school girls when you read Derek's comment.
Which makes me lol. In a small insignificant way I got lucky.
I don't get the controller issue. Yeah, it looks like a 360 one. However, personally Nintendo did a good job with addressing the requests for a 'standard' controller.
As far as power is concerned i honestly dont know where the wiiu stands to be honest, some(Speaking about devs ofcourse) say its more powerful than the ps360 while others say otherwise.
Now with that said, people often think that power means prettier graphics(when making the case about whats more important about a games console), when in reality it means more than just that. RAm, processing speeds, for things like game size, color, ai, physics, sound ect. Knowing Nintendo and how they present themselves through their products, i will say the wiiu will be one of these in between gen consoles with some new ideas and alot of old current gen ports in the mix.
Now thats not to say anything bad about the system, since there is a huge Nintendo userbase that i am sure could enjoy some of what they might have missed with the wii, so its all good. But, part of me feels we are looking at another wii situation, so releasing it a year apart from the pack makes a lot of sense. Because if either M$ or Sony decides to release more powerful hardware at a subsidize price point through some sort of dueable incentive then it could spell trouble, afterall this isnt the handheld space.
Now, tgs in my personal opinion will be the place where Nintendo reveals its price and release date and even launch line up. I also have a feeling they might announced different skues for this platform, this fall will sure be an interesting one. Cant wait for next years e3, see what M$ and Sony have plan.
We know It's got a 25GB Discs.
We know It's not got a HDD not amazing but we will see how effects the WII U.
Already at launch It's streaming 720p across two devices, then outputting at 720p on a TV.
The question never was will the WII U be more powerful than current consoles, It's how much more and how will it cope in year after release ? As you can't judge a system on launch titles alone.
Gamers owe it to themselves. And they fell for their own nonsense.
Lol
The only opnions you care about are you're own.
I have a suggestion, quit being disrespectful and learn to accept different opinions.
As for the Sony fanboys talking about copying, the industry is made up of copying from eachother. If Nintendo doesn't copy MS online structure I won't be buying a Wii u. As for faulty hardware MS only had problems with one generation vs Sony with two generations and almost 3 with PS3 fats. A Gamestop manager told me PS3 fats had problems and was the real reason for ps3 slims.
Crytek saying that WII U can run Cryengine 3 but they not gonna release Crysis 3 on WII U that's mean they lying.
EA saying that WII U can run Frostbite 2 but they not gonna release Battlefield 3 that's mean is not true.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II not gonna be released on WII U will be some imitation of Black Ops II
Capcom said no to Nintendo for Resident Evil 6 for WII U.
Castlevania Lords Of Shadow 2 also not gonna be released for WII U.
Nintendo hoping for Splinter Cell Blacklist but that game not gonna be released for WII U.
WII U is weak console.
All games mentioned above are already deep in development for PS3/Xbox360 with dedicated groups (man power) working on each platform. So let me help you out here... you actually need resources and man power to produce a game. If they do not have that resource ready it will not happen. My bet is once they have completed the game for one of the two consoles, resources will be made available for the Wii U version. Plus Wii U have no install base yet. So it will be a wait and see for the next few months.
They wouldn't be able to do that if they tried to sell a console that has more power but harder to use with.
X360 game sales of most multi-plat games except for sports, fighters and racers are ahead of the PS3 version. X360 controller is more suited for bigger Western gamer hands. PS3 controller is more suited for gamers with smaller hands: females and Asian have smaller hands.
A brand's global acceptance is the key to its success. Hypothetically writing - what if XB 360 Asia sales were comparative to the console's sales in NA?
Like Sony - Nintendo is a band name that sells globally (I'm speaking on behalf of gaming console platforms). I'm not undermining Microsoft, just pointing out were Nintendo and themselves, differ in that regard.
