GTA V: Rockstar’s Chance To Recapture The Spirit of Old Games

Whilst many a more talented, educated and optimistic journalist waxes lyrical about GTA 5’s upcoming potential to take our mind for a tour around Los Santos, making sure to smack it against every hot-dog stand, every vehicle and gang related murdered body along the way; I myself find the prospect of GTA 5 not merely an exciting one, but a chance to recapture something lost in the translation of the generation switch. (Dev, Grand Theft Auto V, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Less serious would be a huge plus.

Did you really played Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV and Episodes from liberty city?

All those games have tons of funny characters with funny video sequences.

Yes, played em both. Red Dead was great but still had annoying side stuff that got forced on you at times like poker or ring toss.

GTAIV had the annoying mobile phone, dating and bowling.

Didn't play the other.

I'd rather we got less serious weapons back like the flame thrower, better radio stations like in Vice City and a more interesting story.

Well, I think Niko's story is way better than a simple gangster's story (which we had in San Andreas). What I do miss is things like:
-Airplanes
-GYM
-Bicycles
-Fat/skinny body
-Car customization (like turbo and some other things)
-Martial arts (San Andreas had Karate/Kung Fu and Boxe)
etc

And yes, Vice City and GTA 3 had way better radio stations. I enjoyed Emotion, Espantoso, Lips 106 etc. I hope they can bring Espantoso back.

me PERSONALLY is loving the way Rockstar has evolved over the years and i remember playing GTA back in high school back when it first came out

Try giving Saints Row 3 a run and leave Grand Theft Auto V for the grown folks. Hence, you can have all the insanity you want but personally i prefer the new direction Rockstar has taken with Gran Theft Auto with its realism.

I compare GTA4 to GTA3 the most important thing was to get the core game right and build on it with later incarnations, which they no doubt will.

San Andreas came from a solid core game, to get that again Rockstar had to make sure the basics where right with GTA4 which I think they were.

No, leave the game as is. GTAIV was groundbreaking, not only on its presentation, but on its mature and serious undertone. Its story was intended to grasp the maturity of how the series has evolved from previous entries. Fun is subjective.

For me, its online portion was fun. Its story, well made. Its atmosphere, engaging and superb at its time. Its main character, like able on the extent that he is a person, with lots of defects and problems in life. Not just this wannabe trying to get on top.

I really hope they bring back the cheats or are on par with the cheats from SA. I would love me a jetpack again.

Its great alot of you people enjoyed GTA4. But as fan of GTA 3, VC, SA, LC2/VCS, I thought 4 was boring. The online mode was decent but needs a better structure.

I also didnt find Red Dead Redemption that great. I actually played the single player longer than I did with GTA 4 but thats not saying much.
