EU Court Ruling Allows for Re-sale of Used Games by End-Users (YOU!)

Had a game gathering dust on your shelf or taking space on your hard drive? Living in fear of copyright rulings as of late that’s seemingly brought the hammer down on anyone and everyone? Well quiver in fear no longer…at least if you live in Europe.

The story is too old to be commented.

When i buy a game, its MY property. Maybe i shouldnt be allowed to start a BUSINESS which makes the bulk of their money selling used games (gamestop), but if i want to sell a game i purchased at full retail, i WILL regardless of any stupid law telling me i cant.

Don't knock GameStop too bad. Unless they started rentals or something, there's no way they'd be able to function without used game sales.

... of course, now they're selling iDevices, too, so that should help a bit, but even those initial costs are probably covered by used game sales, as they just don't make much of anything off new product.

Good , that and digital prices were the only real issues . Of course you should be able to resell a license to a software , with limitations of one licensée per software of course

I was gonna say, we in the US has been enjoying the first sale doctrine that allows us to resell legally purchased software. However, this extends beyond that and now makes it illegal to prevent used game sales including digital games!

Hurrayyy for Europeans! Enjoy it!!! XD

Excellent, this should protect consumers' rights for a little while longer, while also slowing the advance of a totally publisher controlled digital market.

Hmmm. Don't think US will follow suit.
