Analyst 'not sure Microsoft needs to respond' to cloud gaming deal
Oh yeah, Pachter, Gaikai's acquisition by SONY 'COMPUTER' ENTERTAINMENT is mainly to JUST sell more TV's... *reads part of SCE press release where it states "multiple web enabled devices"* PLEASE SHUT UP!!!!!!
Pachter gets owned!!
Eh...I don't think a popular industry figure that makes a six figure salary for simply pulling ideas out of his ass will ever get "owned" by a random person on a gaming website. If anything, it'll always be the other way around. Guy has one of the easiest, most lucrative jobs known to man. Being in his position, I doubt he cares about what gamers think of him. If I had to choose between your average angry, yet knowledgeable N4G member and Pachter, I'd choose Pachter every time.
just let them take their eye of the ball! I agree with Patcher... this is ONLY for Bravia TVs... ONLY for Bravia TVs...
Oy vey... "Eh...I don't think a popular industry figure that makes a six figure salary for simply pulling ideas out of his ass will ever get "owned" by a random person on a gaming website." Except THIS here is NOT what he gets his six figure salary from. He needs to stick to the subjects he DOES get payed for. Your point = moot
"Except THIS here is NOT what he gets his six figure salary from. He needs to stick to the subject he DOES get payed for. Your point = moot" Ummm...who cares where he gets it from? He GETS it lol. You seem like a needlessly angry person yewles1. Why are you so desperate to shut Pachter up? How does his words affect you life/well being? Wouldn't it take less energy to ignore every article that has "Pachter" in the title?
"If I had to choose between your average angry, yet knowledgeable N4G member and a popular industry figure that makes a six figure salary for simply pulling ideas out of his ass, I'd choose a popular industry figure that makes a six figure salary for simply pulling ideas out of his ass every time." Yet another instance where a statement from you makes me chuckle and shake my head at your name. Logic indeed.
“to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices." Does this mean I can play sony games on pc? or will they stop pc support all together? http://www.ign.com/articles... So I wonder if Giakai will remove Alan Wake? or will sony players get alan wake? lol Also remember when cloud gaming was bad? What a turn around.
I'm pretty sure Gaikai will stay as it is. SCE will most likely either use the infrastructure of Gaikai to bring cloud gaming to PS, or use it under a PS name to provide cloud gaming to the PS consoles + multiple other devices.
I understand what he means and it makes sense but it isn't only for TV's but it makes sense that this be a huge plan for them to bring life back into their TV market.
Only an idiot would think Sony brought Gaikai just to help their tv department
But the press release said it would come to multiple internet devices. damn patcher, always predicting the opposite of what will happen. MS will probably respond with onlive acquisition.
I am thinking OTOY is more likely for Microsoft. Why? Well its been tested with X360 controllers, Windows enabled phones, and etc. Its just not ready to be released just yet. Which means Nintendo might get OnLive partnership. Its still A long way off before we really see these online cloud services as daily enjoyable experiences at least for most people as bandwidth just isn't here yet.
Some of it makes sense....probably not the sole reason but its sound reasoning that its part of it
Why would anyone let this man write an article, he's an idiot
Pachter is retarded.
Here's where Pachter is coming from on that: Samsung recently partnered with Gaikai to install their service on "smart" TV's. This would have meant, for Samsung, a push to make a "games on demand" type of cloud streaming service, akin to rentals for a couple days. By Sony acquiring Gaikai, Samsung might stop operations altogether, use a Gaikai-branded service that Sony gets a piece of (like how you can use Microsoft-owned Skype on an iPad), or team up with Sony for a games thing. Strategically, in the short run, it is for TV's. In the long run, however, of course it isn't. They'll use the heck out of that technology on the PS4, the Vita, any future tablet initiatives - maybe not out of the gate, but they'll add it in. And if I could play the same games I'm playing on the PS4 on a Vita through broadband... that would make me want one for sure.
Anyone else thinking about Vita instead of Tvs? Could it even work with Vita? Edit: just saw the thread about Vita and Gaikai. I'm so unoriginal >.<
Sony tablets, laptops, consoles, android phones, and even playstation certification.
Picture you buy a Sony TV and there's an option called Gaikai gaming service (something most people have never heard of), Then you explore and find you can buy PC games to play on your television, no console necessary, I'm not sure how they're gonna support the PS3 controller with no PS3 to connect to tho...
"I'm not sure how they're gonna support the PS3 controller with no PS3 to connect to tho..." they Already Have..psst..look and read on one of the big functions:built right into Android 3.0+ and onward OS 4.0+ example: Eee Pad Transformer caught playing nice with PS3 controller (update: hands-on video) http://www.engadget.com/201...
This will be a major selling point for Sony's new TV's coming in 2013, it's definitely a selling feature for Samsung and LG's TV's. This definitely will be a major selling point so he's kind of spot on, but I don't think he believes they bought Gaikai for that reason alone.
Definitely more than just TVs...the possibilities are endless. They will definitely take Gaikai and expand on it technologically to include all types of media from gaming to music to movies to ebooks, etc, etc.
