Latest Unreal 3 Extras To Be Shown at GDC

Epic Games plan to demonstrate the latest Unreal Engine 3 features at this year's Game Developers Conference next month. The presentation will run on the half hour for each day of the show.

The Epic folks will also be speaking at two sessions:

"Automating Regression Discovery: Finding the Wrenches in the GEARS OF WAR," will be presented by Martin Sweitzer, programmer, Epic Games. This intermediate-level lecture, to be held Wednesday, February 20, 12:00-12:30, in West Hall Room 3004, will be geared toward programmers, although production and management may also benefit from the talk.

"UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3 Postmortem: ULTRA KILL!" will be led by Dr. Michael Capps, president, and Jeff Morris, producer, Epic Games. This postmortem, to be held Friday, February 22, 2:30-3:00 p.m., in West Hall Room 2001/2003, will cater to all developers, regardless of experience.

The story is too old to be commented.

THE ENGINE THAT WONT DIE.

How do you stop a aging graphical disaster when lazy developers want to convince consumers that its the next big thing in software development?!

"Oh my god, the bloom.. the bloom.. Well the textures are nice, WAIT there is no detail anywhere on this level.. its all faked with Normal maps! Normal maps alone without detailed geometry doesn't look good! OH NO HerE COMES THE LACK OF DEPTH!!! AhHHHHHHHHH"

Rated R.

i'm tired of the Unreal 3 engine too. seriously it's getting old. slow texture loading, lack of any real color, unnecessary shinyness, give it a f*cking rest

I hope they updated the parallax mapping algorithm, patched up some of the memory leaks, and optimized the lighting engine. It would also be nice if scenery wasn't treated like characters (i.e. you have to assign boxes a 'weapon' value). A new networking core is too much to hope for until UE4...

An updated data-streaming algorithm wouldn't hurt either.

There's no need to,Gears Of War 3 and on will be on the PS3 also;)

But yeah, the Unreal Engine is getting boring now, especially for Xbox 360 owners/gamers

The Unreal Engine is showing its age especially when compared to other game engines used by other developers. UE is still the standard but other devs are designing better engines that are showing to be superior.

I can't wait to see how Insomniac's engine has been improved upon for R2. I think it will set a new standard.

Gears of War will never be for PS3, expecially after the gigaflop of UTIII.
