Things I Want (and Don’t Want) to See in Halo 4′s Campaign Mode

With a new series in the franchise come many new opportunities. New enemies, locations and weapons have all been confirmed, and somewhat expanded upon in some recently discovered presentation slides on the Microsoft ExpertZone Portal. It’s nice to see the series go in a new direction and take the Master Chief’s adventure down an unfamiliar path. Here’s to hoping that the story doesn’t suffer the same tumultuous journey that the original trilogy did.

At the same time, that doesn’t mean we don’t want to see some of the things that helped make the original games so great. It’s important that Halo refer back to its proud heritage where possible for the sake of consistency (at the same time that it differentiates itself). It may be a new Halo game but it’s the same old Master Chief, and it’d be a shame to see everything we’ve experienced so far disappear just so that the game can be more accessible to newcomers. Very true - I do come across as if I'm speaking for everyone else! Unfortunately, I'm the only one who's willing to kill someone to play this game on our team!

Yea I am an army of my own in the Halo world, maybe we can spartan up sometime, stay frosty!

If you've read the books you'd know why the "covenant" is still a threat and why they have a presence in this game. I'd love to see some three way fights, Gears 3 also did it very well.
I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a Halo, not sure if its spoiler but you can see one when demos were being shown off in the title screen. But they have a very large part in the story of Forerunners so I would understand why they will be included in the game.
I agree with somehow having Arbiter in the game, everyone just loves the character. I just hope he's not pushed in for the sake of making fans happy.
In terms of the cliffhanger ending, I just hope we at least get to find out who the ancient enemy is. I have my theories on who it could be, but I don't want to go through the game without finding out who that being is.

Thanks for sharing! I really do need to get back into the literature (last one I read was Ghosts of Onyx) - any suggestions on where I should pick it up again?

If you want to continue that storyline, Glasslands picks up straight after Ghosts of Onyx. That's a pretty good book, talks about state of the Halo universe after Halo 3.

But I highly recommend reading Cryptum and Primordium, they focus on the Forerunner story. A lot of stuff is explained that I never knew and shed some light on things we may see in halo 4. The books start out a bit slow, but get very interesting the further you get.
