Capcom explains why Okami HD is only coming to Playstation 3 and more
Capcom’s Christian Svensson explains why Okami HD is only coming to the Playstation 3, what version is the port based on and the possibility of a sequel.
(Okami HD, PS3)
Yeah. I could see why it would be much easier to bring it to the Move (almost identicle to the wiimote). But I could also see it working with Kinect. I might even buy it, if it came with a good demo and was released on XBLA for a good price (under $20).
From review I seen the wii version lacks accuracy at certain parts of the gameand Sony demoed drawing capabilities with ps move. around 2:0 of the second vid.
Highly doubt this will release at $20, let alone under $20. Probably looking at least at $30 if not $40 for the game. I'm thinking it's more in line with what they did with No More Heroes, which had a similar pricing for a port with HD graphics.
Hopefully, if this sells well, they'll do a port of it for the 360 (Kinect optional) and plan to make a sequel for all platforms. Great game.
@kcsguy, Okamiden was released in more than just Japan, I know for a fact it had a U.S. release as well. It's not a bad game for the limitations they had with the DS hardware, probably worth picking up.
hey bigpappy i played this back on my ps2, and didnt want this for my wii at the time because it wasnt in hd. now that it is going to be in hd ill be definitely picking this up.
Some people missed this gem, you're not the only consumer in the world. I missed it, and might pick up the hd remake. And if I only had an xbox, I would probably like it to come to xbox.
Same reason you would play the Metal Gear Solid, Devil May Cry, Ico, Resident Evil collections.. Ever enjoyed Nostalgia? Doesn't hurt to re-live some of the best gaming moments of all time, You just seem a bit naff. Shame
Funny that they feel the need to give a reason/excuse as to why they porting a game exclusively to Playstation 3. It does seem that way because they did the same thing last week.
They can always use smartglass via cell phones for xbox (to draw shapes). Everybody has a smart phone. If u have an xbox but no smart phone, u got your priorities screwed up.
no not because its an amazing platform for games, but because it is vital to having a life worth living. I don't know why so many no-lifers got mad at my comment. I know the phone is not great for all games, but if drawing images like a campus, than its decent enough. I like Sony too, but there's no excuse for why other platforms can't get this game too. Damn, there are too many no-lifers on this site. I wish I could find some people who didn't take this stuff so seriously, and could just enjoy games for the awesome medium they are...
LOL at trolling. It was discussed in another thread (yes thread these posts are more forum discussions than actual websites) about how ms will only accept to publish a game if it is either first on their console, released at the same time and is made to be EQUAL to a competitors version of a game.
Since its not equal due to move support and coming out on PSN first. Yeah. I stand my my comment.
It's quite true. That's why the Nightmare mini-game was cut from MGS3s HD remake. Something about rights to it couldn't be given to MS, so everyone had to lose it for it to come out on their platform too. Effing money grubbing asshats is what Microsofts gaming division is. I bought and fixed a 360 because I figured there were a few exclusives I'd like, but the more I learn about them, the more I want to just smash it to bits with a hammer. It's not like I use it anyways...
none of the above 3 comments were trolling. it's people pointing out fact, which happens to upset xbox fanboys, and it's (sadly) how i have been reduced down to one bubble.
raoh is right - MS's draconian release policies are what's probably keeping okami HD from coming to the X360.
To the dude who thinks ps3 owners are so intellectual and sofisticated Okami flopped on ps2. Most of you are only happy because its not coming to the 360. You prob dont even know wtf Okami is. I got this asap after release (REALLY hard to find btw). One of the best games i ever got.
Also why would they port this to kinect? Its a controller game without motion originally, they could use that version. Move vs Kinect come on, Controller>allthatbullshit.
<To the dude who thinks ps3 owners are so intellectual and sofisticated Okami flopped on ps2.>
It figures. Many of them were too busy playing Grand Theft Auto to notice. As far as PS3 owners go, it's Assassin's Creed and Call Of Duty. They barely care about Japanese-developed games anymore.
<Most of you are only happy because its not coming to the 360.>
Pretty much. But then again, it's not like the 360 crowd would have cared much.
@ShaunCameron, I think it's fair to say that Playstation has the best variety out of all the consoles, hands down. There might not be as many as in previous generations, but that would be a hard argument to make. There are too many great games this generation, several (like Okami) once again getting lost in the cracks. Mirrors Edge for instance was fantastic, but didn't get the reception it deserved. If I was making your argument, I'd argue the points that most developers are throwing all kinds of cash into making a copy as successful as COD (which is sad in so many ways), the other being that with the current tech, it takes so much more money and time to develop games now than it did then.
Yeah ps3 fans are rubbing it in 360 owners faces, but it's not like 360 guys have never done the same to us.
Regardless this is the first capcom game i will by day one, this whole gen. I don't give a shit if it flopped by sales numbers, thats little more than a fanboy arguing point for or against your side.
There are some people that always revert to sales figures on any console argument, maybe some day i will try out this game called sales, till then i will play real games.
As for a sequel clover has been gone for yrs, so that sounds questionable.
I could maybe see it doing 1-2 million, nice to see this rare gem getting a good polishing, and while your at it give me onimusha hd collection capcom. Since it seems you are not going to make a new onimusha anytime soon.
Is it disc based or downloaded.
Does anyone know what the ps2's production run of original okami games was, i don't think they made alot of them, compared to other games.
Capcom owns the rights so they could make another sequel if the sales were good enough. But then again it is Capcom and they don't really listen to fans so you are probably right.
I'm gonna buy it when it comes out it HD, didn't know what kind of game it was when I had a PS2 back in the day, but I've only heard great and unique things about it. Can't wait!
I would love this play this game on 360. I remeber my frined owning it on PS2 but Inever had the chance to play it back then. BUT its OK since I bought a PS3 2 months ago. I can say I proudlly own a 360 and PS3.
Really looking forward to this! I never got round to actually playing this game and I hate myself for it! Now I have no excuse to get this and its in HD! Excellent
I just bought the ps2 version of this game last week and now I find out this!!! This has happened to me before concerning a few other ps2 game franchises/series. I do plan on getting this along with other ps2 games that are remastered in hd that are part of ps3 hd collections, but it will be a while before I get them.
I had wanted to get okami for ps2 for a while. I knew I should have waited a little bit longer before deciding to get the game, but I did not listen for some stupid reason. I have learned my lesson, and next time I am going to wait a little longer + do a little more research to see if a particular game(s) or game franchises/series that I want is planned to be released in hd or in a hd collection in the future.
I'ts a brilliant game bought it day 1 on ps2 and playeed the ass off of it.
I actually liked the dualshock controls for it and don't think either move or kinect would particularly enhance it but can see why move would be considered to work well enough.
Play this game either way it's a classic, slashing bongo playing monkey gods and clearing the land of darkness, also chasing post men is fun.
Heck, SmartGlass interaction would be pretty cool.
A port is possible, but you can be sure the gameplay would be different - something tells me that the PS Move version would be much better.
This is another reason why Kinect has very clear limitations on what it can do and can't do (but Micosoft chooses to ignore this entirely).
good move. you really need a physical object (PS Move) not your whole body....

Or just don't like when news sites try to point out the obvious.
I wonder what a starving african kid would say if he read what you just wrote!

It is a true classic.
