Dark Souls is one such game in which I just want to machine gun kittens.
Sorry ignore my tag line, that was just the violent video games that I have been playing talking....
"Dark Souls: Archthrones is like playing a brand new FromSoftware game, and that speaks volumes about just how much good modding can do," says Hanzala from eXputer.
Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way. Why?
i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)
I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.

Modnation racers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Super Meatboy is great, no matter how many times i'll die
Never ever. It just depends on what you classify as fun...
"Does anyone get that feeling where if you cannot progress in a game, no matter where you are in the story line it instantly becomes a waste of an investment?"
How about you get better at games?
I'm sick of casualised p*ss easy games, its nice to be challenged in a game :) If I fail, its due to my lack of skill, to which I would need to improve it in order to finish the game :)
Dark Souls is hard, but it's not as hard as people make it out to be.
I'm a fairly average gamer. I stick most games on normal and still find most games challenging. I have completed demons souls and dark souls and I did it pretty comfortably.
Now..I'm not saying I just waltzed into the world of dark souls and waltzed right back out. I had to dedicate a lot of time learning patterns, being patient and accepting defeat but also learning from it. I think those three qualities are vital for these type of games and unfortunately gamers have lost them over time because of the large quantity of press A to win games.
