Halo, Red Dead Redemption, and other modern games given a retro makeover (gallery)

What if the popular shooter Halo was made a decade earlier? What if Nintendo decided to make a fighting game featuring its stable of characters a console generation earlier than it did with 1999′s Super Smash Bros.? What if the role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII looked more like Final Fantasy VI? Well, they’d all probably be a lot more pixelated, but (as the gallery below shows) they’d still look awfully fun. (Culture, Final Fantasy XIII, GameCube, Halo: Combat Evolved, PC, PS2, PS3, Red Dead Redemption, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360)

red dead....
looked spot on to the capcom arcade game "gun smoke".

I can dig all of these. I wish they were real as they would be just great fun to play. The halo meets contra...I thought that when i saw the killzone shot at first.

It looked more contra-ish than the halo one.

The Gunsmoke reference is especially awesome - because Red Dead was originally a Capcom franchise that Rockstar took over.

Very cool.

BioShock looks great. And I think I'd prefer a retro styled MGS to a modern 3D one (haven't enjoyed the series since Metal Gear Solid). Make it Kojima!

Halo, Killzone, Metal Gear Solid 4, Super Smash, FFXIII, and LBP would be amazing games to play in the format shown. There was also an Uncharted one somewhere on the internet that I thought would be amazing, too (found it).

Damn, too bad we don't have someone devoted enough to try putting these together. Most likely only on PC, but I'd assume anyone would still be able to play them.
