Metal Gear Solid 5 Yay or Nay?

Hideo Kojima brought an end to Solid Snake’s story in MGS4. Despite the controversy and thunderous pleas from fans across the globe, we witnessed our understated hero grow old, weak, and approach the end of his life. Do you think it’s a smart move on Hideo Kojima’s part to continue the franchise or should Snake’s story come to an end? (Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid 5, Next-Gen, PS3, Xbox 360)

I believe rumor states the game will be about Big Boss and the creation of Solid Snake
Looks good to me
Batzi  +   355d ago
creation of Snake happened during Peace Walker. I hope we get to see Solid Snake in any form in MGS5. Having multiple time periods in the game would be awesome. For instance, Act 1 would be about The Boss and the Cobras, Act 2 would be about Big Boss and his pre-Outer Heaven state then Act 3 would go deeper in the story of the sons of Big Boss and show what happened to Solid, Liquid and Solidus. Anyway, I think soon we are about to find out since the MGS5 teaser is upon us come the 25th anniversary event in Tokyo this July.

The creation of snake is not in peace walker. I never saw that in the game. Please explain to me where it happened sir
ANIALATOR136  +   355d ago
I think he means by the timeline. I don't remember it ever being talked about in peace walker though
Batzi  +   355d ago
Les Enfants Terribles project happened in 1972 while Peace Walker happened in 1974. The kids were 2 years old in Peace Walker. They don't have to mention it to know that, if you would have followed the storyline properly you would know that the babies are around during the time Peace Walker occurred.
raiden-49  +   355d ago
in the end there is a small time line of what is to come up till kaz's dead to the hand of the dastard liquid the time line shows that the project started during peace walker but it ended a few years later

I want to know about Liquid Snake before MGS1. He was a covert agent too after all. Hind vs F16s.

Also, it's a Kojima game. Of course, we'd buy it.

I dont care who the main character is, or what the storyline is...ill buy it.

Snake's creation was actually 2 years prior the Peace walker incident.

Mgs 5 with a new mgo--hell yay

A continuation of Old Solid snakes story when he is supposed to die--Nay

An mgs that explains the loose ends of snake, liquid, grey fox, and even raidens origins in a convenient package--almost necessary (yay).

Let old snake stay dead. His revival invalidates the entire emotional impact of the 4th game, thus causing fans to quit investing in the actual story (even if we still buy it just for the gameplay)

I reaqlly liked the e nding of MGS4, If they do make an MGS5 it has to either be placed in the time line before 4, or just be great enough to be more than an epilogue.

YAY!!!

I want other games obviously, but it could be worse, id rather have MGS5 than say another Assassins Creed game or an EA sports game, theres too many none appealing games on the market for my tastes

I'm definitely ready for it. I'm just relieved that it isn't a sequel to Solid Snake's story. Solid Snake had a nice, engaging ending to his story and hopefully we keep it that way.
cpayne93  +   355d ago
If he ever does another mgs after this one, I would want it to be a remake of the original 2 metal gears. Otherwise, it will be time to lay this wonderful series down to rest. I want to see what alse Kojima can make.

Also, I wonder if this game will be exclusive for ps3?

I would like to see a young snake in his twenties but not too young like as a child as I believe it could weaken his character and make him seem vulnerable.
doogiebear  +   355d ago
So what if he's vulnerable. We seen how great he'll turn out later. He's not just awesome simply because he's a clone of big boss, he is also shaped by his experiences. He'd be a nobody if he never had to overcome fears on the battlefield, even if he is big bosses clone. Remember, he doesnt have his fathers memories.....
ANIALATOR136  +   354d ago
I see your point. Thinking more sbout it, it would be great to see what experiences have made solid snake so cynical in MGS1. Probably a story to do with having to become extremely independent with having no mother or father around. Just different mentors
Vin13cent  +   355d ago
I don't think MGS series must stop! I believe in Hideo Kojima, surely one of the best producers out there,If not THE best! He got loads of imagination/creativity which can lead to an awesome MGS game! Go Go Hideo! I'm sure he'll make us proud once again, like he ever does
OVOXO_Mike  +   355d ago
I say yay but they really need to shorten some of these cutscenes. Some cutscenes spanning 10 minutes+ is getting rediculous! Yes i know it's for the story but keep it within reason.

Yay !!!!
solidworm  +   355d ago
A big fucking YAY fuckers.
Roper316  +   355d ago
depends on if it is true to the series game play wise and also if it isn't gimped to make sure it fits on a certain number of DVD's. I always loved MGS games and just hope it doesn't get bastardized like some many other games just to appeal to more people, kinda like Dead Space 3 which has become a bargain bin buy due to bastardization of the series to appeal to the Cod crowd who could careless about the game anyways.

A true artist is unforgiving and has no reason to change there ideals based on media or fan perception.

If he did, we wouldn't be seeing Kojimas true story.

MSG is amazing because it isn't "your" game....your paying to play Kojimas ideals. He has no reason to cater to no one. That goes for any artist.

What he did with MGS4 was bold and creatively confident. Only Kojima can pull off something like that now days. I except his work because i don't see it as a generic or recreational game (ie Taken or Tony Hawk) i see it as a unapologetic art form in many respects.
TheDivine  +   355d ago
But Kojima only made 4 because people begged. He didnt want to do it so he made up a story that would end it finally and tie up all the loose ends. He didnt put his heart into it he was like a kid in a sweatshot churning products out. Thats exactly what your saying he doesnt do. Its the reason MGS4 was an abomination. I dont know any MGS fans who liked it, only ps3 fanboys who like to use it as ammo to hate on the 360. The story was soo bad. Good gameplay and the stories behind the beauties were great, it also had great cutscenes as always but it ruined the storyline. If he makes one after the last one he said he would ever make it will be a dumb decision. Prequel yes, sequel no.

Il still buy it reguardless, i love MGS but let it rest.
PirateThom  +   355d ago
I liked it. Most MGS fans liked it. Just because you didn't, don't try to paint it that only PS3 fanboys liked it to try and justify your opinion.

nay, I guess i am the only one that was disappointed with 4. Don't get me wrong, MGS3 is one of my favorite games of all time, but 4 really put me off.
N7360  +   355d ago
Theres a massive gap in the story from MGS 1-2 it would be great to have a game in this time period similar to the MGS Gaiden game on the GBC. Following more events of a younger Solid Snake would be great I think.
teevo  +   355d ago
Yay!!!!!!!
InTheLab  +   355d ago
This was tagged 360, but I could see MGS5 on the WiiU instead thanks to the 25 gig format. I can't see Kojima porting this thing to the 360. He was already pissed about the 3 or 4 installs. Imagine what he'd think about 5 separate discs...
Parallax_Films  +   355d ago
Who the hell would say nay!?
ginsunuva  +   355d ago
Nay. I only say this because another MGS would diminish the significance of MGS4 (my favorite game of all time.) When a prequel becomes your last big release, it makes the whole saga less significant.

_-EDMIX-_  +   355d ago
? It didn't with MGS3.

I agree with what you said about MGS4 though. Great story and gameplay but i felt the bosses where weak and not really memorable to say the least. A prequal would be great for this series.
