That was a peripheral supported by about 5% of 3DS games. It isn't necessary, if you want it just buy the attachment for like $10.
The PSP, 3DS (before it got the extra circle pad) and the DS all have great games with one or even NO analog controls. Whilst I agree that it would be nice to have the extra analog just in case, I really don't think it's necessary top make a whole new model just for it because that would divide the user-base and annoy owners of the original.
Doesn't matter how many support it right now, all programmers should be programming games to dynamically change UI if it's available or not. Sure, only a few games use it now, but maybe they use it because it's the only option to get the best controls and digital buttons don't cut it? Besides, a game using a add on they have to go and find separately is a pretty big deal IMO. If there was a way around it, the company would have taken it rather than risk their sales on forcing customers to buy extra hardware.
And anyway, think about this. Last time I checked, a single 2D axis does not work for 3D environments, we learned that with the N64 big time. You need TWO 2D planes to control a 3D object easily, period. Not one 2D plane.
They think they are Apple. Being the only one in the mobile gaming platforms for so long without a challenger its gone to their heads. They still have 90% of the mobile portable console market.
Are people really going to complain about a bigger 3DS? If you don't like it, don't buy it. You probably won't see a 3DS lite for another like 3yrs or somethin when tech becomes a little more cheaper to make it worth it, so just trade in your old ones and just get the thing, and if you don't like the color just get a 3DS XL skin.
People don't realize that if Nintendo added a second stick, the first model would become obsolete! If that happens, people would abandon them in a heartbeat. Seriously think about it, if a game like COD was in development for a 3DS XL, with to circle pads instead of one, the game would only be compatible with the one with two circle pads.
They just announced that a CPP XL is being designed for the XL. I know what you think, but it makes sense...
Oh sure, like we're going to believe anything Nintendo says. Just a few weeks ago they said there was no new 3DS model coming.....fast forward and here is 3DS XL.

I think this guy sums this up pretty well in his vid:

Gee, look how that turned out, Nintendo.

Seriously 1 model every 2-3 years I can deal with, but every 6 months to a year? That's excessive
