We’re halfway through 2012 and there have been a ton of games released in the last six months. These are the best.
Journey is definitely one of the best games not only of 2012, but of this generation. Such a beautiful experience. Pretty decent list.
1. I just wanna say Thank You for putting the entire list on ONE PAGE!! Bravo!!
2. DAY Z and The Witcher 2 should be on this list!! I can name a few others but Day Z is like GOTY for me right now!!
ME3 is my current GotY. I'm not a fan of the ending(s) even with the DLC, but the game itself was still great. Given that there are only a few more releases this year that I believe can challenge it, ME3 will probably end up being my GotY, though AC3 and PS All Stars (if it releases this year) can potentially change that.
This list is PS centric (read their comment at the bottom of the article). That's why you won't find games like TW2 on this list.
Stop being so dramatic. Journey is no doubt a great game... but saying its the best game of this generation is a bit much considering there are hundreds/thousands of other games out there...
it is called the power of the words .. he said "one of the best games" not "the best game.." as you mentioned.
@mt even that's not true...
1) This is in response to a PS related article. 2) I said "one of the best" and I'm not the only one who feels that way. #Reading Comprehension
That's not being dramatic. You take things too personal/seriously. Metacritic seems to agree with him as well. It is one of the highest rated most highly acclaimed games this gen on a PS system: http://www.metacritic.com/b...
Is this a "Best So Far" or a "Mostly Okay" list? An arguably good or list that will illicit arguments about these games being good.
What games do you think should be on the list, if they aren't already (this is a PS-centric site)
Definitely missing Gravity Rush!
Dragons dogma...I second that
Dragon's Dogma I 3rd that.
4th for Dragons Dogma. Some of the best animations in enemies I have ever seen.
I haven't played Darkness 2 yet, but a lot of people have said it's one of the best shooters they've ever played. Will need to pick it up sometime.
It's okay, but not one of the best shooters I've ever played. On Topic: Gravity Rush should be on a best game of 2012 so far list, and Journey is the best game I've played this year.
good list, but very bad article.
I think the author should have explained why he thought those games were the best, instead of simply making references to other reviewers opinions about the games.
specially since some of those games recieved mediocre scores.
Edit: "why he/or she thought ...." fixed :)
also, I would include Dragon Dogma in the list. This game has been terribly underrated IMHO
I'll make a note of that for future reference ^_^ thanks
Journey <3 simply stunning
I really cannot agree with XIII-2 being there. It is a good game and I am enjoying it, but it feels lacking in quite a few areas. Also, the story is GARBAGE. The time traveling concept got old quick and it made me lose all interest in the world, which is damn shame because the world of XIII was actually a bit interesting.
XIII-2 doesnt make even a decent RPG less worthy of the FF name.
Only it does make a decent RPG. It's not standout, true, and may not live up to this illustrious image people have built up for the FF franchise(I can at least think of four or five games in other franchises that are as good or better than anything in FF, but that's neither here nor there). But it's still a solid game. Doesn't mean I think it should have made this list of "Best Of" games, especially when Tales of Graces f is absent.
Where the heck is Gravity Rush? I mean the game is simply amazing and fun. It has a high score on Metacritic too 84/100 simply one of the Best Games this Year. I'm quite sure it will be a contender for GOTY in Handheld section
SFxT does not deserve to be on this list. In fact, I fully expected it to be on the "Worst of 2012" list. There were so many problems on launch that continue today I can't begin to list them all. The netcode is terrible, they lied on release about local co-op teams for the XBOX 360 folks (even left it in the instruction manual), and the gem system selection method is far to long. Hopefully EVO has a solution, nobody wants to sit through character selections, gem selections, and button checks before every single match.
Journey is a great experience for any gamer. Also, thoroughly enjoyed Kingdoms of Amular : Reckoning. Huge shame about 38 studios.
I know. Rpgs are precious to me and this one had many great ideas and gaming memes that allowed it b refreshing. It very sad. This and dragons dogma have been wonderful.
I play to many games....i can honestyl say ive played them all, well except the fighting ones not my genere. My personal favorites this year are Kingdom of Amaluer, Binary Domain, & Witcher 2 (yes it was for the 360 this year)
Witcher 2 and Lollipop Chainsaw baby!
While i don't agree with a lot of the games i do like the layout of your website. My only complaint would be the massive borders. But then again it really is no different to here so maybe it's a monitor/resolution thing.
A few of these wouldnt go astray in place of many of those listed IMO: - Trials Evolution - Fez - The Witcher 2 - Alan Wake's American Nightmare - Twisted Metal - SSX - Minecraft oh and a little game named Diablo 3!!!
Minecraft and Ghost Recon Future Soldier are much better than a good 2-3 of those games.
I got The Darnkess II for really cheap and it was surprisingly fun and empowering, so much so that I played it over back to back - best purchase in a while.
final fantasy should never be there, ghost recon should be there, dragons dogma, lollipop chainsaw, vitua fighter 5, fez, magic the gathering 2013 should be on the list
Max Payne 3 is amazing so ive heard.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is my fav game of the year so far, if you hate it/dislike it then I think you should play it instead of bashing it :)
Love how pretty much any comment mentioning Gravity Rush or Journey as being among the best this year are met with tons of disagrees. And they say this is a Sony site...
SoundGamer wrote "Journey is definitely one of the best games not only of 2012, but of this generation. Such a beautiful experience. As of time of writing that has 3 agrees and 3 disagrees. That's right Hicken, just keep pounding the disagree button with no real reason or rebuttal. Which again shows what a complete hypocrite you are. I just showed how flawed your theories are and you still don't have the intellect to actually get yourself out of your own argument. So much for your theory this site isn't run by Sony fanboys. In fact you yourself make up of at least a dozen accounts with the amount you talk on here and all your alt. accounts you have.
Ring a bell? Go ahead, though. Keep wasting your time.
I find it hard to believe ANYONE here on N4G wastes as much time as you do, and for what, to continue to keep this rift between XBOX360 players and Playstation 3 gamers? After almost 5,000 comments Hicken, tell us, what benefits have you gotten? Sony continues to suffer financially and the XBOX360 continues to sell just as well. There will also be a PS4 and a next XBOX so it's not like this current generations fanboys accomplished anything. Seems to me this agenda of yours is not only fruitless but stupid. I too am stupid for actually thinking anyone could ever get you to see reality.
