The Tomb Raider controversy as seen by Camine, who confronts employees of Crystal Dynamics and disambiguates the unfortunately opaque issue:
I make life difficult for myself when I write these columns. I can easily agonize over exact word choices for hours, then end up crunched for time and at a loss for any words at all. Like most roads to Hell, my indecision is paved with good intentions. I want what I say to transmit what I mean. Even very small thoughts branch off easily into countless other thoughts. It's easy for me to get wrapped up in ideas that are related to my point, but not actually relevant to it. Staying on point, being direct and not giving in to attractive distractions are challenges for me.
Tomb Raider I, II, III Remastered is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Lara Croft is back in a classic remaster of the original PlayStation 1 hit title. Is the remaster any good though?
We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.
For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.
I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.
Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
Polygon: "Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics launched a new website for the franchise on Wednesday — Valentine’s Day is also Lara Croft’s birthday — with another peek at the impending “unified” design for its action heroine. New artwork of Lara sporting a post-Survivor trilogy look that evokes her classic design supports the theory that the Lara we saw last fall in Call of Duty is basically the character’s future appearance."
Crystal Dynamics really going hard with the man face. They sure do hate feminine looks!
Great artwork but please…this unified timeline shit sounds awful
It won’t work
Classic Lara and Survivor Lara have completely different origin stories meaning they are two separate timelines you can’t unify together
I really don’t want Survivor Lara anywhere near Classic Lara.
As long as she had dual guns, and doesn't whine all the damn time. They really dropped the ball with the new lara, had such a good start and didn't know what to do with it.
The Call of Duty version?! Surely there is a Fortnite version they can use instead to really nail the feel.
I hate to be the person who comes in quoting the dictionary and god knows what, but last time I checked rape was the sexual assault of someone involving sexual intercourse.
I checked the video and I didn't see any sexual intercourse with Lara. Sure I saw about 3 seconds of a man who was getting quite close to Lara with his hands on her, but really the rest was left to the viewer and it seems that some viewers decided to take it as rape.
Tell me you have never seen a film where the evil bad guy gets quite up close to a woman protagonist who has been caught and maybe places his hands on her in a suggestive way. I suppose we should go and class all those as rape as well.
There is a point where you can look too far into things and some people just love to do it.
