'Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut' - Enough to Forgive Bioware? (RealSG)

Anthony Accinelli of RealSG writes, "Naturally I hopped over to the Bioware forums and began reading the comments. Some of them were brilliant, others were completely moronic.

At the end of it all however, it seems to be fairly split. The question is asked, "Do you forgive Bioware?""

Nope...I found the endings funny, not emotional or satisfying. Probably more to do with me thinking

"Are they actually trying to cover up this plothole by this excuse"

or

"The ghost child is still in this..."

and at the end I was thinking still

"You guys should of just done the indcruation theory, make it into a DLC where we could have new gameplay like battling harbinger and you guys could of gotten out of this mess"

AvidGamerrrr4312d ago

Yeah I more or less agree with you. I feel like it was just another ending, and not necessarily one that explained or filled any holes.

Regardless, I still love Mass Effect 3.

This cannot be forgiven, if this were back in the day with ps2 and Xbox, you would have never been able to patch or download anything. when you had an ending it was hit or miss, when you had a bug it was there forever. Shit like this just shows how careless some devs can be just to depend upon the ability to patch and fix things they were to lazy to fix during development time. imagine this shit happened in every game because people didn't like an ending? i cant even count how many ps2 games endings were disappointing. Patching a game should always be LAST CASE SCENARIO, if something is really bad within the game. like skyrim on ps3. should have been recalled

I think Ill just go watch the youtube video for all 3 endings and save myself the time of downloading the DLC.

I disagree Derek. This is something a developer has NEVER DONE BEFORE, and should definitely be considered in future releases. To call Bioware careless or lazy is understating the enormous amount of work they've put into the series. Gamers act as if the ending ruined EVERYTHING, and thus made it a bad game. If I were to judge a game based on its ending, 90% of the games on the market would be considered underwhelming or complete garbage.

By all accounts, the original ending was disappointing and the new ending will continue to irk some fans of the series, but it doesn't stop everything that came before it. It's still an enormous achievement and a memorable addition to this generation of gaming. I'd say aside from the ending, Mass Effect 3 is practically a perfect game.

Let em' whine till the ned of time..the game and the franchise had amazing success.

Metacritic 93% WITH the original endings
74 reviews 0% negative or mixed..

Haters whined..Bioware addressed..hates still whined..NOW Bioware will realize that you can't please a 'certain' crowd regardless.

The whole fiasco still won't hurt the experiences of the people who enjoyed the game.

What bioware should realilze is that they cant lie to us to sell us their so called 'art'. The whole premise of the trilogy was that our choices mattered. The whole appeal of the trilogy was snuffed out the moment we were forced to choose an ending and by doing so all that was done in 3 games was useless.

If Bioware had stayed truth to their own words the ending would have been a combination of all our choices coming together wich didnt happen. I dont know if they were lazy or they bit more than they can chew but, either way, i wont be buying more of their games as i cant stand false advertisement specially one that cost me € 210.

I found EDI's new-found feelings of sadness for Shepard's death to be very effective and emotional.

Seems like most people who are still angry are IT subscribers.

ME used to be my all time favorite franchise this generation, I just simply loved it. So what did I do when I experience the proverbial slap in the face by bioware, i took my 100+ hours and delete it of my HDD. Never again. This franchise is dead to me.

AtomicGerbil4311d ago

Better, but still a lot of holes.

Imalwaysright4311d ago

Did my choices affect the ending? No!
Did Bioware lie to us trying to sell us a game? Yes!
Will i be buying more Bioware games? No!

Mythicninja4311d ago

Having a 3 part trilogy end with a deus ex machina god thing is grade school storytelling. I don't know if bioware lost some key talent or what, but all good things come to an end, and I'm done with them. You couldn't pay me to pirate their games now.
