I have one I love it...but no matter how shiny and awesome the graphics are getting, I'm getting my gaming fix on my Vita. That faux touch slide stick wotsit is awful to control anything with.

Though tilting/pokey sweepy/rts/tower defense games all work pretty well...and look shiny!

As much as I like this phone, and trust me I really want one, I'm not going to throw down £500 on a phone when all it packs under the hood is a 1.4-1.6Ghz processor.

Plus I would never be tempted to switch from my current gaming fixes to play on the S3 instead. Still the phone is very nice.

To be fair mine was a free upgrade. Orange also did me an awesome deal on data and cloud storage as I'd been with them for years.

Took me an age to save for the Vita, Don't think I'd EVER pay for a mobile phone.

I honestly don't know much about processor power, but everything is running a lot faster and smoother than my old htc and wave. And apparently nothing is out that takes advantage of the quad core yet.

It does however stream 720p films wirelessly (with 5ghz router/sold seperately)which is the main reason I wanted one. So I don't annoy the other half in bed. The screen is beautiful.

It may encourage more smartphone users into the casual gaming world...maybe even lure them to try other games, but established gamers will find it lacking.

Spot on, i have the SS2. And although some games look very nice and run smooth, controls will always be an issue.

Mobile gaming should be classed as scams rather than games.
Seriously almost every game either expects you to be connected to the net at all times, spend real money ingame or require large amounts of time to accomplish the simplest of tasks all the while streaming large amounts of ads.

dark-hollow4319d ago

Maybe you had bad luck with shitty zynga games, but there are still some awesome games on ios/android.

smartphone gaming = indie games heaven second only to PC.

BitbyDeath4319d ago

Can you recommend any decent games? I play TripleTown but it gets boring after a while as it doesn't have any levels. Just same thing over and over again.

3GenGames4319d ago

Love Android and think it has lots of potential, but no portable platform besides dedicated portables will ever really be for gaming. Maybe casual games, never real games.

Cueil4319d ago (Edited 4319d ago )

Andriod is way to fragmented to be considered a real threat to mobile gaming
edit: I should have said real threat to become a strong mobile platform

another one bites the dust. When will these companies learn gaming isn't that easy to break into.

crazyCoconuts106d ago

but this one has such a catchy logo /s

DOMination-106d ago

Seems a bit harsh. It's just an accessory for their app on smart tvs and monitors. Maybe Samsung have bigger plans down the line but I don't think anyone is expecting this product to change the world, Samsung included.

darthv72106d ago

There is no dust to bite... this isnt like stadia. This is for playing games either from the mobile store or xcloud or geforce now through the smart tv. Like playing on your phone or tablet only a much much bigger screen.

Vits106d ago (Edited 106d ago )

Too expensive for what it is.

shinoff2183106d ago

40 hours sounds pretty damn incredible

Phoenix76106d ago

Maybe 40hrs when in stand by mode

2027: MS stops making Xbox consoles
2029: Samsung starts making Xbox consoles

j/k

NotoriousWhiz106d ago

You kid, but when Microsoft leaves, expect someone else to enter. Maybe Amazon. Maybe Netflix.

QuantumMechanic105d ago

Samsung is in bed with MS and shows latent interest in the gaming market. They are also a hardware manufacturer. It seems totally reasonable that Samsung is in a prime position to take over the Xbox hardware properties should MS bow out of the market.
